For those of you unfamiliar with Silk Sonic and their debut album, here is a little bit of information. An Evening with Silk Sonic is the debut studio album by American R&B duo Silk Sonic, composed of recording artists Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. It was released on November 12, 2021, by Aftermath Entertainment and Atlantic Records. Mars reunited with Christopher Brody Brown, while .Paak reached out to Domitille Degalle and JD Beck to write the album. Silk Sonic recruited American musician Bootsy Collins for narration, and composers such as D'Mile to co-produce the album, which was recorded in 2017 and early 2020 to mid-2021 at Shampoo Press & Curl Studios.

This is such a lush, groovy album. The reviews for this album have boggled me, this is just a feel good album that doesn't need to be experimental to be exceptional, Pitchfork and Fantano etc. doesn't seem to understand that. This album pays homage to the classic 70s funk/soul sound without coming off as derivative and explicitly imitative and stale, it still offers a modern touch to that sound. One of my favorite albums of the year.
@CMClaudio1989

Fantano's rating blew my mind. Like he did nothing but offer high praise for every single dropped, and then gives it like a 7. Wtf dude haha. You summarized it it well and idk what he was expecting
@khangvinh4656
@khangvinh4656 2 жыл бұрын
@@CMClaudio1989 I feel like he was just rating it based on how “different” it is and 7 is basically that “it is different from what is being made rn but is still parodying the 70s”. He definitely would have give it a 10 for how much he enjoyed it.

@@CMClaudio1989 I agree with most of Fantano's scores, but in this one, it feels like he felt that to get a higher score, this should've been more experimental, which I don't think should be a must on this kind of passion project type album

I don’t know how to really explain it but the way you let your father discover his own passion with songs you guys listen to, it seems like he’s the son and you’re the father who just nods approvingly. You see his youth come out and that’s what music is about, showing true bliss!
