My hottest take in music is that TKOL is one of Radiohead’s best albums and is massively underrated, whereas Ok Computer hasn’t aged as well as Pitchfork says any given day, and is generally pretty overrated. Jonny Greenwood wrote the software they used for all the sampling in this. Not that that makes it a great album in itself, but what a flex lol. I don’t buy it being short as a criticism. It’s concise. Every song fits and is engaging.
@jonashorn83542 жыл бұрын
@@ivanstarenko7000 well, I'd have to disagree on the OK Computer take. I think it still is one of the best albums of all time. In my opinion it deserves all the praise it gets. There are only few music projects that reach the level of perfection OKC does. My personal top 3 are 1. KID A, 2. OK Computer and 3. AMSP. After that I'm not sure if TKOL or In Rainbows is my rank 4. But I get your point, TKOL is a cohesive project with a great sound and while it isn't as cinematic as the fan favourites, there truly isn't much to criticize about it imo.
@ivanstarenko70002 жыл бұрын
@@jonashorn8354 Yeah, I’m not sure how I’d rank them but I think yours is a good one. I love Ok Computer too- it just bugs me when people talk about that and Kid A as if it were Radiohead’s heyday when I think In Rainbows, TKOL, and AMSP are just as good and I also prefer the production and Thom’s voice on their later stuff. Like the whole “this is this band’s Ok Computer” when referring to something clearly being their best album when I don’t even think that’s obviously the case for that Radiohead album lmao

Just found this channel this morning and it’s been my all day. It doesn’t take much to get me back on a Radiohead kick but it’s been wholeheartedly warming to watch your dad’s progression. I actually started your vids with Madvillain (as if the profile pic/name didn’t give it away) and then The Strokes, and then took it all the way back to your first vid, happy as hell that this began with Radiohead. What a fucking start. Knowing he’s made music his whole life and just now gets to experience all this shit for the first time? That really made this the most enjoyable. One of the things I love most in music is when artists see the rules and guidelines set for them and their musical reply is, “Fuck your rules, I’m making what I want to make. My self-expression doesn’t need to fit into your box..” So seeing this change in your dad, where he’s listening, expecting certain things here and there, these standards of music making, everything he was taught, and instead something else comes and you can see this breakthrough. That feeling of like “Holy shit, I didn’t know I could do that!” Seeing him inspired. Fucking incredible. Anyway, I know the comment section is still wild over the fact you still need to do Amnesiac and Hail To The Thief, but I actually think your Dad would also love a lot of Thom’s solo shit and also the Atoms For Peace album, so hopefully that’s in the works. You guys definitely have my attention. Thank you for everything.

Love seeing your reaction to this one. Absolutely, it’s a grower.It took a while and decent headphones but it’s now one of my absolute favourites and one I listen to a lot. Truly one of the finest and most unique albums that Radiohead have produced. It’s worth looking into their process in making this one, very different from how they’ve usually worked and it really comes through in the final product. Thanks Connor, and Kevin! This is such an underrated album, i think almost as underrated as Hail to the Thief. It took me a long time to get into this album, it is an album with a creative concept, that are different, very different than In Rainbows, which is such a beautiful entry, and easy to listen to (for me) So it's not easy to accept TKOL. But then i've found beauty in each tracks, Separator is my favorite track, Also Bloom is fantastic, crafted with a lot of elements. They nailed it in the basement version. Love Kevin's openess towards every track, thom on codex, man.. it's just fantastic. Cheers!

This album has grown and grown and grown on me ... over the years it has slowly morphed into my 2nd fave RH album! It's just a a deep web of sounds and beats. PLZ react to the From the Basement version! Your dad will FLIP OUT!!! Keep up the good work, and TAKE OFF YA HOSERS!

I really like this album. It has one of my top 5 RH songs, Separator. Will never get tired of that tune. I would like to suggest Capacity by Big Thief. It's very instrumentally complex and the lyrics are amazing. I believe you guys would enjoy it.

Just subscribed as i'm new (and very late) to radiohead. Love your reactions and chemistry with your dad. I feel your dad has to react to the in basement vids on youtube as he clearly picks up on the intricate details and on there you see it being created in front of your eyes. Blows your mind.. I think you would both really enjoy Joy Division's two albums if you haven't heard them. Late 70's but quality music.. Keep up the great work.

TKOL is by far Radiohead's most cohesive album. An incredible feat. Masterpiece of an album

I really love this album, sucks that so many people discredit it so easily.

I've always thought "Give Up The Ghost" off this album is criminally underrated. It lives somewhere between folk and ambient, and I think it's absolutely gorgeous and takes me away to a sun dappled meadow in a hammock somewhere in my mind.

One of my favourite albums of all time, thank u for taking the time to react to it. If you have the chance, definitely listen to the From The Basement version of this album, you get to see them performing the songs live and its so interesting to see them put the songs together

Would love to see you guys listen to my favourite Radiohead song: "The Daily mail". The sad part is, that this song is not on an album :(

Very cool idea! Blindfold Bands! Love the new setup. The black background and the grey chairs with the white up top make a really good contrast. You got rid of my plants though! Lol

Most people find the live version to be much better and improved but I think that noting tops the studio version of "Codex". That ending orchestral section is unbelievable in studio

Love how you did it, by not letting him know what was going to play
