That guy saying Venezuelan food companies are private is halfway true. The food IS scarce because of socialism. They imported most of their food before and when the oil boom for Venezuela stopped they didn’t have enough money to pay for imported goods while at the same time the government stifled domestic production and regulated the hell out of food companies. When they cut imports local producers couldn’t keep up with demand. Also government seized private property including land, a big majority of it. So YES the companies were private but the government seized the land and slashed imports for the companies to make the food. Conclusion, socialism ruined Venezuela, and the guy is talking out of his ass.
