I don't know which of these is the most awesome: -The idea that men can sew too - it's not just a lady thing. -A dad sewing something for his daughter - homemade with love! -The sewing machine is named after the singer from Green Day. -A dad telling Disney to make more superhero stuff for girls. -A person that freely admits they aren't that good, but it doesn't dissuade them from doing it anyway. This is ALL AWESOME.

My dad sewed people’s upholstery. One time, he took some red glittery-looking vinyl material from an airplane seat job, and made me a bag for my jacks to take to school. It had a drawstring closure. It looked really sharp! I think it’s great that you are sewing for your daughter. She’ll treasure the memory forever!

Dad, putting "slop" into the skirt is a technique used by pioneer moms that made clothing for their families a hundred years ago. I commend you for bringing this back to our attention. Darts, gathers and hems were purposely made to be "let out" as children grew and could be reinserted when "handed down" to the next user. Yes, clothing is expensive and making garments that will "grow" with a child is nothing short of being a money-wise parent. I like your motto..might I suggest that you add "making it better next time".

I found this helpful! The one thing I will say is typically I put my fabric to the left of my machine….when you were sewing the waistband casing you shoved all the ruffles in towards the machine, instead of draping the ruffles out away from the machine. That means you have to be so much more careful not to accidentally sew the other fabric. If that’s your preference that’s totally cool! But if it’s a tip that might help ya, then yay!

I like the way you just made it up as you went along and planned for the future. When I sew I try when ever possible to have the fabric hanging off the machine to my left so it doesn't bunch up on the surface and get in my way. I also use pins to help keep things even and staying where I want them. Usually I remove as I sew but sometimes I just sew over them. I was taught in school to baste everything! What a tedious waste of time! I just got a new machine since my old one is now considered vintage. I wanted to see how to use the Ruffler and so found you. Thanks Dad!

I think this is awesome! One thing, it you flip your project around so your excess material is on the outside, it will be easier to deal with the extra fabric. The extra won't be under the arm.

You did a wonderful job. Regarding the machines with some space to tuck the fabric, in yours you just need to switch the end you start sewing. I learned to start sewing in the end where the fabric will be in the outside of the machine :) (left side of the needle) instead of putting the garment fabric to the rigth side of the needle, put it to the outside, the left side of the needle. Hope you understood what I tried to explain with my bad English and without visual help lol. Keep up the good work.

Another great video. Makes it approachable for those who might not want to follow the 'sewing police' way of doing things. But I had to take my KZbin settings off of "safe/restricted mode" in order to watch it. I did watch it and I have no earthly idea what triggered the unsafe designation, buit thought you'd want to know.

Nice camera work. Lots if men using sewing machines, nice. Have you figured outthe ratio of needed fabric for the 1-6-12 ruffle? In other words: what setting (1-6-12) needs double the fabric for the ruffle to attach to the unruffled fabric? Lets say for cotton or quilting fabric. Thx Mary.

If you made ruffles without either the ruffle foot or a gathering foot. Would you just sew them on normally? Could this be a potential video topic? I'm currently working on the apron out of jeans that you did. So far I have the stuff cut out and needed fat quarters ruffled. Now it's just figuring out how to attach the ruffle. Although I'm pretty good at winging it. It's rather how I did the ruffles.

Please I need a hero right now! Troubleshooting over here. This made in Taiwan ruffles (& quiet exp by the way) keeps tangled the thread and the fabric does not feed ????

Sew. Fail. Repeat. I definitely need to say this 10x before I start sewing. I'm a new sewist and get so frustrated with small things (as if I should know how to do this), and I fear starting so I end up watching too many videos instead of actually doing it myself. It's like expecting to get in shape by watching exercise videos!! RIGHT!!??
