Although I briefly mentioned it in the video, I was confused as to why this song was censored despite the rest of the album being explicit. If anyone knows why please let me know below! Thanks for watching ✌🏻

The reason given for the censorship of the song is because the artist whose song was sampled, the great Grover Washington, Jr., wouldn't allow for any remake of his song, "Moonstreams", to include profanity on the final record.

I saw him in concert, I remember he used to end each show with a prayer. He was so genuine and spiritual and loving. The “I can’t get up” part always gets me too esp the second verse. And when he talks about needing to get high to get by, and how his day starts with smoking weed, then drinking made him mean/angry, and finally he’d do coke which made him violent, enough to mug people - he’s talked about that. He was on drugs very badly, that’s why he didn’t care about his appearance. He stayed on the streets with a bloody knife (mugging). Very dark. Dmx stands for dark man X. Dark is his bad side, man is who he is at his core, and X is what you don’t want to know. He explained it kinda like that. He does a lot of dog references because he would befriend/take in stray dogs, he felt they were the only trustworthy thing. He would sleep with them on top of buildings when he was homeless. May he be at peace, he overcame his struggles and was lively. I’ve been binge watching you guys. Y’all are awesome 👍

@@frontroom he’s definitely worth learning about. DMX was given crack unknowingly by a male role model. His interviews about his early life are beyond heartbreaking. He did try though. He married & loved his wife (the boo mentioned in the song) the best he could. He loved his kids. He loved God & prayed in concert & on his albums. A tortured soul who definitely earned his rest.

Bro I read a biography by him, his childhood was terrible, his mother used to abuse him and violently beat him while praising and cherishing his sister because they had different dads, then he was tricked into smoking crack as the previous comment stated. From my experience with crack and coke, putting it in weed doesn’t give you any feeling as close to doing them by themselves. DMX was born in Baltimore and moved to Mount Vernon, NY. This song speaks about the hurt, pain, trials and tribulations that he endured as a child. His mother named him after one of her boyfriends, and some of the guys used to beat on him and so did his mother. His mother disregarded his presence because she was always high. He found a friend in dog, he felt loved unconditionally and not alone. They slept on rooftops of his apartment building. He was talking about his ex wife when he said and to my boo who stuck with a n through all the bullshit because it's due, her name is Tashera. It's like he predicted his future.

Such a blessing to have a father that can see past the cussing to the heart of the lyrics. Also a father that is willing to talk about emotions, life and how to interpret the challenges that a person may face in their life. This is not a relationship I was able to experience with my father and it brings a year to my eye to watch it happen.... In a good way. Kind regards Ben from NZ 👌👌😎😎💪💪😉😉

If you want to make your dad cry again, make him listen to DMX - I Miss You 😁 2pac is always going to be number 1 for me. But DMX is the only one that could ever come close to him. They both are the complete package with lyrics, deep thoughts, emotions, life experiences, charisma and so on. Unbelievably good, both of them.

"Slippin'" This life shit, this life shit is like Is like bugged the fuck out, son, for real See, to live is to suffer But to survive... Well, that's to find meaning in the suffering Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up (I will hold you down) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I gots to get up Get me back on my feet so I can tear shit up ('Cause I got your back, I got your back) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up (Oh, the Lord is with you now) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I gots to get up Get me back on my feet so I can tear shit up (And He got your back, He got your back) I've been through mad different phases like mazes to find my way And now I know that happy days are not far away If I'm strong enough I'll live long enough to see my kids Doin' somethin' more constructive with their time than bids I know because I been there, now I'm in there Sit back and look at what it took for me to get there First came the bullshit, the drama with my mama She got on some fly shit so I split and said that I'ma Be that seed that doesn't need much to succeed Strapped with mad greed and a heart that doesn't bleed I'm ready for the world or at least I thought I was Baggin' niggas when I caught a buzz For thinkin' about how short I was Goin' too fast, it wouldn't last, but yo I couldn't tell Group homes and institutions prepared my ass for jail They put me in a situation forcin' me to be a man When I was just learnin' to stand without a helping hand Damn, was it my fault, somethin' I did To make a father leave his first kid at seven doin' my first bid? Back on the scene at fourteen with a scheme To get more cream than I'd ever seen in a dream And by all means I will be livin' high off the hog And I never gave a fuck about much but my dog That's my only mothafucka I hit off with my last Just another lil nigga headed nowhere fast Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up (I will hold you down) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I gots to get up Get me back on my feet so I can tear shit up ('Cause I got your back, I got your back) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up (Oh, the Lord is with you now) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I gots to get up Get me back on my feet so I can tear shit up (And He got your back, He got your back) That ain't the half, shit gets worse as I get older Actions become bolder, heart got colder Chip on my shoulder that I dared a nigga to touch Didn't need a clique 'cause I scared a nigga that much One deep with the pit startin' shit for kicks Catchin' Vicks, throwin' bricks, gettin' by bein' slick Used to get high, just to get by Used to have to puff my L in the morning before I could fly Ate somethin', a couple of forties made me hate somethin' I did some coke, now I'm ready to take somethin' Three years later showin' signs of stress Didn't keep my hair cut or give a fuck how I dressed I'm possessed by the darker side, livin' the cruddy life Shit like this kept a nigga with a bloody knife Wanna make records but I'm fuckin' it up I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up (I will hold you down) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I gots to get up Get me back on my feet so I can tear shit up ('Cause I got your back, I got your back) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up (Oh, the Lord is with you now) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I gots to get up Get me back on my feet so I can tear shit up (And He got your back, He got your back) Wasn't long before I hit rock bottom Niggas talkin' shit, like, "Damn, look how that rock got him!" Open like a window, no more indo Look at a video, sayin' to myself: "That coulda been yo Ass on the TV," believe me, it could be done Somethin's got to give, gots to change 'cause now I've got a son I gots to do the right thing for shorty And that means no more gettin' high, drinkin' 40s So I get back lookin' type slick again Fake niggas jump back on my dick again Nothin' but love for those that know how it feel And much respect to all my niggas that kept it real Kept a nigga strong, kept a nigga from doin' wrong Niggas know who they is and this is your fuckin' song And to my boo who stuck with a nigga through All the bullshit, you'll get yours because it's due Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up (I will hold you down) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I gots to get up Get me back on my feet so I can tear shit up ('Cause I got your back, I got your back) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I can't get up (Oh, the Lord is with you now) Ayo I'm slippin', I'm fallin', I gots to get up Get me back on my feet so I can tear shit up (And He got your back, He got your back) (I will hold you down, 'cause I got your back, I got your back) (Oh, the Lord is with you now, and He got your back, He got your back) See, this is that shit, this is that shit That all real niggas can relate to This is from the heart, baby Don't get it twisted X, baby

DMX became a hard core Christian and often prayed on stage and in his albums.
@kykutie6862 жыл бұрын
This is so true. He came to Indianapolis once and was late to get on stage. Someone I knew was working security. They said the team was told DMX was at the venue, but no one could find him. He was in the parking lot praying with fans. A manager said to go get him. "He's late" and the security guys started arguing with each other because who the heck wants to go tell DMX to STOP PRAYING?!? 😂

I'm so glad u picked this song... I'm a recovering drug addict and this song has alot to do with the struggle of addiction cause he was a crack cocaine addict, and in the beginning he hustled rocks then started smoking it after he was given a laced blunt with crack in it from his mentor at the age of 14 I believe? And then it just progressed from there to being a habit he had trouble giving up until I actually killed him just a year ago almost to date... And one of his closest friends helped him get away from it all and got him in to hip hop. Then Joaquin “Waah” Dean, co-founder of Ruff Ryders Records first met him in 1987 after hearing one of his famous mix tapes that he sold in the streets of Yonkers. This song has been my anthem since I was in 9th grade cause I have a insane history of addiction between my addicted family life and my active use until I was 20 and got sober for 10yr then relapsed for 7yrs and now I'm 10mo sober again. It sux it took my diabetes getting extremely bad and blacking out causing me to fall down 2 flights of stairs and shattering 3 vertabre, rib, my hip, a concussion and I tore a bunch of ligaments in my leg. I died twice in the hospital but almost a yr later I'm walking but have to use a cane so I don't fall on my face. lol but I got another yr til they think I'll be 100% again. But this song makes me cry everytime I listen to it cause it hits home hard! And that why 2pacs Dear Mama hits home too cause that was my mother when I was growing up. I became a adult at age 11 cause it was all survival based necessity! But thanks again man I wish I guys could do this. Everyday cause u can make good money especially with all the views u get for being a infant channel! But hopefully I hear more from you 2. I'd like to possibly sit and explain my story sometime. I've been debating on starting to write a book cause it's WILD!! -And the reason it's edited is cause the sample they used, the original creator wouldn't allow cussing if they used his music! But there are a few versions out there with the cuss words in it,cause it wasn't for a few yrs after when he got sued for the cuss words so it's been edited ever since...
