Thank goodness for the family friend who responded expediently and saved the children from whatever nefarious intentions that Meyden had. Every time I hear this case I am beyond impressed with the wherewithal and quick-thinking of the girl who was suspicious of the goings-on of Meyden's behaviour at the sleepover. The young girl who called her mom, is someone to be proud of. She spoke up and did what was right. Parents talk to your kids tell them…no matter what time it is or where you’re at, you as the parent will come get them. We all think our kids know that, but having a conversation about it, makes sure they understand it.

Where was the mother? When my daughter had friends over for sleepovers, her dad was completely out of the way....and when they wanted something or it was time to check on things....I was the only one who did. Because they were girls.There were clear, unspoken boundaries...and my husband wanted to remain hidden from them

My Dad made my friends and I dinner and yelled at us from the bottom of the stairs when it was time to eat. My Dad avoided us like the plague and my Mom checked on us. I feel like that's the normal sleepover dynamic between parents and daughters.

My mother was never allowed to sleep over or have her friends sleep over, and all her siblings were 10-15 years older than her. So she knew how it felt to miss out on fun sleepovers. I was allowed to do sleepovers, but she would always have to know the family and talk to the others moms about all the details.

My stepdad was so awesome. We were talking about something like this that happened (not like this, but you know…something suspicious). He was saying that when his daughter’s friends would come over and he’d toss them into the pool. (I’m summarizing for brevity). He said it was fine when they were little but as they grew older they’d want to be tossed and he was like - uh no. He and I were talking and he said, it would just look bad or be misconstrued. Regardless of intent you have to be thoughtful about what you do, and how it might be perceived. This guy was so predatory and it’s very clear his intent. There’s only one reason to drug girls at a slumber party. And we all know what that is.
