As a dad of 2 young kids who is literally days away from potentially purchasing a S550 Mustang GT in the UK I can’t thank you enough. I think you summed it up in the video “this is how driving a car should feel” I am so excited to hopefully own a car that I’ve dreamt of for years, and dropping the kids off at school… what an experience that will be. My current car (VW Arteon) has so much space I fear I may miss it a little, there is certainly more tech in the VW but I don’t care…. It’s a mustang! Great channel and great video.

Hi Ben, great video, I bought my 5.0L V8 Mustang 5 years ago, I opted for the Performance pack 2 and it came in at £38k in 2018, speaking as a professional driver it been the best car I’ve driven for driving thrills and in 5 years apart from annual service I’ve just this month replaced the battery around town I get 18 -20mpg and 24-29 on a motorway, I pay £160 road tax and its ULEZ exempt!! I put an H pipe and Roush axle back exhausts boxes and it sound amazing. Driven to Cornwall, Scotland its a very comfortable drive ,well worth the money for this iconic car .

Same with me. I have a 2016 I bough back in early 2018 for £28k. Insane money for the amount of car. I'd already driven a 2015 in Georgia, before they came out in the UK. I've driven Audis since 1997 and I was not dissapointed with the interior. I don't thnk may people who review the Mustang know too much about it's styling both interior and exterior. It's a car that is hugely affordable, and who cares about some hard plastics. It's far more entertaining that any German offering I've been in. A car should be about emotion and excitement when the garage door is opened. It hasn't wained for me. Glad you enjoy yours too. Good mod on the H pipe and Rouch axle back.

When these came out in 2015- I bought one as a daily dad car - and funny enough, I always thought of it as a bit of a “poor man’s Aston Martin” -with its big sweet engine, nice manual transmission and decent ride. A bit compromised at times for sure, but man did my daughter love being dropped off at school in it. And of course in the US these are pretty inexpensive

Came from JayEmm's latest cayenne video, watched your review and then thought wonder if he'd like to try my Mustang GT. But here it is already.. Great channel, very enjoyable and well done. My input on a mustang as a dad of a 3yo and 1yo. I use a britax roamer forward facing for the 3yo and it's perfect, the 1yo is in the same seat in your test a maxi cosy cabriofix. The base goes in easy, the seat unit is a squeeze but does go in with the seat all the way forward. When the little one is bigger I'll probably get a Reecle 360 (some other stang dad's I know have them fitting well) or stick with another britax. One thing to note the boot is large but the entrance is small so some push chairs struggle to get in, I manage to fit a icandy apple2pear two seater in with a struggle but with the two kids seats that takes up the whole boot. A simple folding cheap chicco stroller is my go to. Mods: you have to do the exhaust, it shouldn't have come from factory like that. Really limits the V8 sound, which is why most buy the thing. I have a axle back system which is loud but not obnoxiously so. Also I have lowered mine 25-30mm with the eibach Pro kit and put spacers on so it looks correctly stanced. Couple of cosmetic mods, spoiler gear knob, fuel door, rocker wings and it's how I like it. Like you I hired a mustang, did San Francisco to San Diego in 4 days went for the GT, on my honeymoon. This helped me sell it to the wife as she has fond memories of that trip and the the car. My 3yo absolutely loves it, makes me roll the windows down and floor it every tunnel and she shouts faster daddy. Making memories is absolutely what it's about. 👌

The interesting thing is that the previous generation (2013/2014) models have a thinner rear seat cushion and a slightly different angle and my son at 5'11" barely can fit. Normal people at 5'8" or so are snug but comfortable for hours. The re-design got the angles and padding wrong, as well as the bucket seats eating up almost 2 inches due to the rear part's design, and it's impossible to sit in the rear as an adult. So for kids, get a good 5th gen. 100% can fit 4 adults.
@dadcars2 жыл бұрын
They are very bizarre rear seats, interesting to know they used to be better
@plektosgaming2 жыл бұрын
@@dadcars The 5th Gen rear seats are typical rear bucket type seats and you sink into them quite a bit. The new ones are bolstered and stiffer and the end result it that you don't sink into them and the angles don't work right. Add in the rear of the front seats is more rounded and your knees have no place to really go. So it simply fails while the other one worked. I hope they fix this for the refresh next year. And, yes, I've picked up people from the airport before - it's a legitimate (if tight) 2x2 layout. But the NEW one? You'd better be about 5'2".

American 2+2 cars: Better than walking, just. We have the expression "I have room for 1 person i like and 2 people i dont" I've had both a mustang and a camaro and at 184cm daily drove a 1st gen MX-5 race car for 10 years. I guess i hate comfort.

Many European 2+2s are even smaller in the back 😜

That use to annoy me so bad watching European reviews of American muscle cars, and honestly some of the clichés. like the Interior material quality , or refinement. It is a somewhat cheap muscle car not a BMW it was made to thrash around and have fun. The one that bothered me the most, and Ford apparently because they have gotten rid of it. The live rear axle, and to most people in the states that's part of the experience! We don't want drivers aids cars that drive them selves, We drive the car not the other way around. Another one is, I cant feel the road in the steering or I cant tell where my tiers are pointing! They are pointing relative to the angle of your steering wheel! LOL I guess Ford is listening The mustang is full on sports car now, and it is fun, but has lost a lot of the muscle experience.

I’m a dad with a mortgage, 3 kids and a cat and I am so sad as I am nowhere near getting one of these. How can you guys afford these without the wife saying “ we could be spending that on the mortgage or going Disneyland” 😢

I can’t afford one either… follow my trading down series 🤙

This is the last decade of the gasoline-powered American muscle cars. Camaros, Challengers, and Chargers are already on the chopping block. Ford probably won't go fully electric with the Mustang until around 2030 though.

If it's all you say it is after making so many excuses for it why don't people buy them in the UK? :)

I think they have sold fairly well in the uk, not compared to the US obviously 😅

UK is going electric so they can kiss V8s goodbye

Poor marketing is the reason. Owned mine since december and the amount of compliments I have had on it and the amount of people who just had no idea we even have mustangs in this country is a big part of it. Colleagues at work who had never seen one in person until this year when I drove in. Had a delivery guy who thought all the UK mustangs were the ecoboost model. People just don't know about it so it not on their radar when purchasing a new car.
@mariemccann5895 Жыл бұрын
@@dissidify You're right. Essentially its not a car for the UK roads, it's a US import and Ford took a gamble on making a few bucks out of the very limited number of UK drivers that lust after them. These days however they are dead in the water as the 2024 emissions quotas will see the end of any new V8 imports. At the end of the day it never was a car suited to or made for the UK roads and never will be.
