Daddy Date Days: Fun Ways to Make Memories with Your Kids!

From a super sweet Tea Time to a Magna-Tile construction project, or the cooling treat of a delicious Ice Cream cone, to the warmth of S'mores by a campfire. There are so many wonderful activities you can do with your children to make memories and spend intentional time together.
In January, we started "Date Days" where Chad and I would spend one-on-one time with our kids doing something special. Chad brings you along his "Daddy Date Days" with Brooklyn, Carson, Holland, and Everly to show you how much fun you can have with your kids!

My heart has just completely melted. I have never seen sweeter moments than this. That Holland is a heart melter. Carson is going to be such a gentleman, Brooklyn, a little lady with her tea; all she needed was a hat 👒! My dad took my sister and I on individual dates when we were kids. When he was home (he was a pilot), he would also "tuck us in" at night (individually) where he would ask us what our favorite thing was from that day, we'd talk for a few minutes, and then he would pray with us. Priceless moments that I wouldn't trade for anything. So glad to see another dad investing so much in his kiddos! It will mean the world to them someday. 🙂

What I love most about this is you and Chad are setting your kids up to know and understand God's Father heart toward them. Your heart toward them is just like God's heart toward us. Chad, you had me with tears in my eyes. I spent so much of my kid's life working so much trying to give them whatever I could that I missed out on so much of just the simple things that didn't need anything but me and them. You are some of the best loving parents. If I had parents like you two when I was a kid, my life would be so much different right now. I like that you videotaped your time because sadly some people have never had that quality time with a parent and wouldn’t know sometimes where to start in our busy lives. So much chaos in our lives with social media and the news, working multiple jobs, exhausted, trying to make ends meet, and the days fly by. Just a nice calm quiet at times home is so nice. Great job, my Grandsons are grown and I always took the opportunity to ask what they learned from school everyday and would take one at a time to go eat that way while we were sitting there they would talk more without the brother being there. Precious memories. Don’t forget Mom and Dad have a date day also. Get a babysitter at least once a week. Blessings

Chad an Carson why Tennessee is the volunteer state is because the war in 1812 the key role was played by volunteers from the state of Tennessee. I loved the the daddy date day. I wish I had that growing up.

That’s such a lovely idea. My boys had a listening couch where they could ask me to drop everything and we’d sit, they’d talk and I had to just listen. As they got bigger I was able to ask if they wanted any feedback and sometimes they did and sometimes they didn’t. When we moved they got upset we didn’t take the listening couch with us but aged 14 and 21 I had to point out they knew by now they could talk to me about anything at anytime. They loved that couch though. There was never any consequences if they told me about something on the couch.

My son and daughter in law do that with their kids last Friday my son his 3 daughters ages 11-1 to daughter daddy dances my daughter in law took their son to a movie. This is so sweet!! We started a few traditions ourself... every Monday of the month is a rotation, mommy gets a night out, daddy gets a night out and the kids rotate going out with one of us. And now every day my kids rotate to have "mommy time" while all the other kids rest. Most nights before bed my kids play "attack monster" with dad. They run out all their energy and they have that special time with daddy

Our kids had the most meaningful discussions anytime we had a campfires or fire pits. We used to have fire pits like every few nights, even in the summer when it was like 80 degrees. There is really something so special about being together outdoors, tending the fire, looking up at the marvelous night sky, and just being away from all the distractions of technology and devices.

My Dad was the best he would watch the soap operas when he had to work the night shift to keep us up with what was happening when school started back only a Sweet Daddy would do that for his three girls! Saturday night he would polish our shoes for Church😃 and wash our hair in Mom's hair Salon sink in the back of our house😃And Dad helped my brother get his 1st job. We only have 3 kiddos, so it's a little easier for us. But doing one on one dates with the kids has been transformational for us. Now our kids are teens and we wouldn't have the relationship that we do with them if we weren't intentional to make that time... sometimes dinner out, sometimes Aquagolf, sometimes a coffee date... always being creative. Ice cream dates are always a winner. My littlest was asking for that this week. 🙂

We tried to do this with our children. My husband worked two jobs so that I could stay home with our four children. We did one child each week. My husband took the time from a very young age to teach our boys the way to treat a lady and fir our daughter, how a man should treat and act around a lady. I did the same with our boys and our daughter. The other day, I took my five grands to get haircuts. I was so thrilled to see how my son and daughter-in-law have incorporated things that we taught him. I feel like we as parents have gone full circle with the extra time we spent with our children.

This is so wise. You are not only making the most out of the years you have children in the house, but creating a family environment where you will not have teen rebellion etc. We did not specifically do this, but spent a lot of one on one time with our kids working together and being very purposeful. We did not have teen rebellion. We had team mates. They knew we were 1000% on their side and their team mates in handling the problems of life. They are grown and married now, they chose amazing wives and I could not be more proud. We had so much criticism on home schooling, and having our kids working together with us but life and time has shown it was the right thing and they learned to be great men from my husband who is a kind and strong man.
