I love after their night out is over they continue to dance in the hotel corridor!! And when the obvious moment comes for them to kiss, they don't. Such is the difference from a 1955 film. Beautiful.

I have never, and will never, get "tired" of watching clips like this. It's pure talent, and perfectly executed. Fred Astaire, and Leslie Caron, and Cyd Charisse, and Ginger Rogers FOREVER.

Worth watching over and over and over...and I have! I think It was 1957 when I first fell in love with this movie. Each time I watch it, it takes me back to simpler, wonderful times.

Don't forget, Fred Astaire's long time wife died, at the very beginning of the making of this movie. It's a tribute to his commitment to his craft that he continued with the production, and acted, and performed so well

F.Astaire - resterà nella storia del cinema - una star inarrivabile - non solo per la sua eleganza - per stile e genio assoluto - ma la generosità verso le sue partners - che mai ne oscurava i primi piani - ma le rendeva visibili e meravigliose !!

Another illustration of what a good singer Astaire actually was. Not a "great" voice, not a wide vocal range, but a so very melodious voice. He always sang accurately, precisely on the note, along with possessing an innate sense of vocal timing and phrasing. Class all the way...

I always loved listening to Fred Astaire's singing - he introduced many songs which later became true standards. He was forever critical of his own singing abilities in many interviews. I recall a funny story which Mel Torme wrote about: He, as musical writer, of the Judy Garland Show, mentioned to Judy that he had once recorded a record album called, "Mel Torme Sings Fred Astaire." Mel explained that (before the recording) he talked to his friend Fred, who (while feeling complimented) wondered why Mel even thought that he (Astaire) was any kind of a singer. Of course, Mr. Astaire was wonderful in all he did. P.S. Judy (who had her own insecurities) turned to Mel and asked WHEN he was going to do "Mel Torme Sings Judy Garland." A funny lady!

Pardon my language... dancing today, guys fuck a woman. And they give it right back, which is ok with me, that's cool. But Astaire made love to women, and they reciprocated in kind. (And I'm a guy ;) )

Fred Astaire's wife died during the making of this film, and for a moment he reportedly considered dropping the whole project. Leslie Caron has had some criticism for the stiffness of her dancing--and I think it shows in this number (much as I like her). Love the humor of the final moments when Astaire is alone in the hallway!

great song, charming number, and Fred's last really good musical. Caron worked very well with him. Audrey Hepburn, one musical later, definitely did not. as Fred would perhaps agree. but this one is SO surprisingly good. way to go out, Fred, but you may not have known it then.

Why is there such a stigma on age difference it's a film it's not real.... and anyway age is just a number it's about liking and loving a person for who they are not because of what society dictates....

Great to see Leslie Caron in her prime, even if Fred was getting on a bit. She was always at he best when dancing with a super-star like Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly. Didn't like her so much in "Lili". Cheryl was spot on about Fred.

Astaire was initially reluctant to commit to this film in the aftermath of the sudden death of his wife from cancer. It turned out to be one of his more memorable films of the 50's together with The Band Wagon and Funny Face. Interesting to note that Leslie Caron worked with Gene Kelly in his prime in An American In Paris and Astaire in Daddy Long Legs, also at his peak.

Fred Astaire had a number of excellent dance partners. The musicals in that period were idyllic feel good movies. Finding anything bad in that seems ridiculous. Today we have nothing remotely as good. Every Hollywood production features a Black Man or woman in a relationship with a white person. I find that disgusting and not remotely typical.
