I can't believe some of the comments in todays vlog. Katie and Cullen are doing an amazing job with Macey Gaines and also doing exactly what any new parents do. Telling them not to kiss her is like telling them not to breathe. It's actually physically impossible for parents of a new baby to not kiss them all day every day. Also, the part about being loud, that is actually good for her. All 3 of our kids were raised in an environment where we never kept quiet for them and we never ever had to deal with a baby who couldn't sleep because there was noise. There were dogs and cats too and all 3 kids have incredibly strong immune systems. They are 24, 22 and 16 now and really amazing, loving and healthy young people. Let them raise their own baby!

Sorry, this is gonna be a sappy 'personal' comment, but I felt like I needed to say it- Thank you so so much for being dedicated to each other, and your new bundle of joy. It really helps to see two people who celebrate life and all that comes with it. I don't have a typical 'family'. My dad never wanted kids, and when he was in my life, he was abusive. So it's better for me to to have him in my life, but he chose not to be there. I have my wonderful mother, and I couldn't be more thankful. I also have her parents who have helped raise me. Her dad (my grandpa) recently passed away. Since then, I've been feeling really low, because my dad and his side of the family aren't in my life because they chose not to be, and my mom's siblings and her aren't close. My aunts and uncles don't really have much to do with me. I'm one of 3 kids, (two from my dad's first marriage) and they blatantly don't like me. I haven't seen them in 5 years. I have felt like I'm kinda running through life alone because of this. I know I'm really lucky to have my mom and grandma supporting me, but I have always wanted a big family, and I have one, but don't at the same time... ya know? So I wanted to thank you for providing a loving, supportive household for your baby girl. Thank you for always being surrounded with love and support. Also, I thank God so much for giving me families like you and the Shaytards to look up to. I love your vlogs, I watch everyday and I have for a while... I thank God for giving me you guys, you really feel like my aunt and uncle. Thanks for that.

Love this family and the baby is adorable. I REALLY think that daddy Cullen needs to be a little more gentle and a lot less crazy around that baby girl. I know he couldn't love her more and he is a new dad but It's obvious it makes Katie nervous and the couple people that were watching this with me and I were nervous too. Such jerky movements and loud noises and yesterday he was waving her around. Never seen a daddy to rough.

I absolutely agree with everything you said. Daddy needs to be a way more careful with that baby. He is SO loud and he is constantly treating her like she is two or three years old already. Be soft, don't be so loud in her face and little ears and don't move her so hard and fast. There is time for all that when they are old enough to rough house with. Especially because she is so tiny. Soft and calm like mommy until she gets older. That baby needs to be able to stay sleeping when she is sleeping. That is one way they begin to build trust. If you scream in her face and ears when she is sleeping she is going to not trust you holding her. Please know I am not saying this to be mean. I am a mom of 6 and have a degree in early childhood development so I know a little about what I am saying. Your love for her is definitely not in question. Also, mommy probably doesn't want two kids right now...

You can tell Katie gets pretty irritated with Cullen when he's acting like Gaines is a toddler already. I was raised around dogs and cats my whole entire life. I was never in a bubble. These comments are so just mind blowing. Children yes are precious and it is good to be careful, but you can't protect a child from every single thing. You wouldn't want to. The pictures I've seen of my parents holding me and videos, wow it is scary, but look I'm ok. There are 500 billion ways to hold and raise a child, and the Cullen's way might be 501 though they are doing perfectly fine. You guys are WONDERFUL PARENTS. To all of those who are giving out parenting "advice" or just being plain rude. You need to think to yourself. If you were out in public would you just walk up to someone who you "thought" wasn't doing something the "right" way or the way you think is "right" and just straight up tell them to their face? It's the same concept here. Just because Katie and Cullen put their lives on youtube for all of us to watch it doesn't mean that they aren't REAL people and have REAL feelings. +wickedgotthechick They never said that they know how to handle a baby because they've been trying to get pregnant... They've been trying & have gone through so much & they finally have their baby, they can do whatever what want with their baby without having to get nasty comments such as your own. Besides that, no parent is perfect whether they're dealing with their 1st child or 20th child. They both have family that will be there to help them & I'm sure if they have a question, they can look in a baby book, speak with the Gaines' pediatrician, google it or ask their KZbin viewers... One of the most annoying things to say to first time parents is your (not meaning you but everyone's) opinions, I'm sure sometimes it's appreciated but they it's their baby... So no, they aren't baby experts & they never said that either. I actually recall Cullen saying several times "we are first time parents" they are aware that they don't know EVERYTHING about handling a baby, no one does. ;)

I remember when my baby girl was born, my husband didn't understand how hard she sucked when it was time for me to feed her. so I told him to put his pinky finger in her mouth. He literally winced and said "I feel for you, that hurts! She has a vacuum mouth!" Then we laughed together. Guess what?? She's 3 now and the healthiest still! Let the daddy interact whichever way he wants! He has his loving wife to guide him on whats too rough and how to be gentle. Their baby, their family! He's a happy daddy and loves her with all his heart. I know i couldn't restrain myself from wanting to squish my babies cheeks and hug her because she was my miracle baby. Let them love and interact in whichever way they please. Try raising a newborn with over a thousand people telling you what they want you to do and see how well you take the "advice"

You guy's are doing a great job for first time parents with a premie. My son was born at 36 weeks 4lbs 7.5 ounce. He was completely healthy but I was scared to give him a bath. I 19 when I had him. Now he's 2 1/2 and gonna be a big brother on November 3rd. He doesn't know that he's going to have a baby sister soon! Do any of you who are giving unwanted advise think that they would ever do anything to hurt, or harm this baby? REALLY? I just want to say that after you have experienced loss like they have, when you are finally blessed with this new life, you can't kiss them, hold them or love them enough. Leave Cullen and Katie alone. They are learning just like we all did when you have a new one. I am pretty sure GrandBerry and GrandDolly would let them know if they were concerned.

Sooooo about these people and their unwanted advice...Cullen, "go and brush your shoulders off!" Don't even pay these people no mind! If I do so recall...while in the hospital you spoke about the doctor saying it's okay to do the finger thing with a little breast milk on the tip of it for bonding...how is this any different people??? It's only missing the breast milk...and that was doctor's orders ;) You all are doing an AMAZING job with Baby Gaines! paint that bottom part of the counter (baby arrives) with chalk board paint and you can use it for all kinds of things..........countdown to birthdays, holidays etc
