This will be a good gift to my brother who drinks a lot of coffee but always buying pregrounded crap.

Quick note for y'all - At 0:44 the grinder that is pictured and I am referring to is the Q, not the Q2. More in-depth comparison from the Q/Q Air to the Q2 is at 7:11 😊 Regarding the Q2 "Yes that one came first and yes that is confusing" - I even got myself! 🤪

The Q series has always been an interesting topic to me. Many people seem to say it isn't an espresso capable grinder based off the 25-micron thing but there are a number of budget espresso grinders with 19-33 micron steps. My issue with my Q2 was always the time it took to grind out a dose. Not so much the effort as it is way easier to crank, for espresso, than any of my larger burred hand grinders (K6 and J-Ultra). That J-Ultra is HARD to crank on some medium-light to light roast but i guess that will settle, at least some, after seasoning but I digress... I do find grinders with larger steps like these pair well with the likes of a Flair or other manual options where you can control the profile. I used a c2 with 3d printed adjustment plate that basically cut the step size in half (still high, something 32 microns or thereabout, if memory serves) for 9 months with a Flair Classic. It was the best thing in the world to me because I didn't know any better. Anyway, I think this sort of budget option works fine. Especially if you have nothing to compare it to. That said, the step size obviously does matter if you want to dial in by taste to a significant degree. But I feel that if you are that far down the rabbit hole to begin with, you aren't grinding out espresso with a budget filter focused grinder to begin with, lol. Great quality video, as always. Thank you for posting it and I look forward to the next one.

I think most people would get this for traveling. The metal Q is nicer, but the plastic is a bit lighter and more travel friendly. I love mine in combo with the aeropress for traveling. Alongside a ZP6 and C40 at home it goes straight into a drawer 😄

You're slowly working your way through every handgrinder on the market, lol! I've got a KINGrinder K6 that I've liked, have you ever tried any of the KINGrinders models? The K6 is often recommended as a $100 budget option (supposedly) similar to the 1zpresso K series. Lol as I was typing this you said you want to review the KINGrinder series, oops!

I made a 3d printed 35g catch-cup for mine. I find adding beans in the middle fine, but a hassle to unload the grounds more than once. Being plastic helped with the mod, i dont think id be able to make it for metal grinders.

First off, I love you repping two of my fav local roasters, Sorellina and Rogue Wave! I have the original X-Pro, with the original burrs the Q2 had. Just some minor changes to the stability/alignment vs the Q2. They’re phenomenal. It’s blown me away in blind taste tests vs other grinders. Thanks for reviewing the Air, I’ve been eyeing it at Rogue Wave wondering how it would stack up! It’ll be a fantastic grinder to gift to my less obsessed coffee loving friends and family.

I have been using a q2 for about a year now and am very happy as a travel grinder that fits in my aeropress. Enables me to have decent coffee everywhere i have hot water and a cup While the q air can be had cheaper, for the 20-30eur difference I might stick with the q2. Shattered plastic is hard/almost impossible to fix, while the full metal+wood q2 is gonna take a beating without any problems

Hi! I daily a JX-Pro with the same number system as the q-air. The 3 number system is not the way I think about it. I basically go by the numbers. If you hit 0 again, you're at 10. Then you go around again and that's 20. So, for example I ground coffee this morning for drip, and I used a number 41. Then if you are dialing in, you'll say "41 minus 2 clicks" or "40 plus a click." It's honestly pretty intuitive once you get used to it

Is the numbering disk still backwards on this?

So it's a Q2 hep with a less premium body? That's an absolute steal if that's basically the only difference! Love my Q2, sits at my office desk in my aeropress and always does the job. May swap that out for the air and use the Q2 at home to contrast the ZP6. Great video
@DaddyGotCoffeeКүн бұрын
There are some changes from the Q2 Burr to the new Q/Q Air. Now that you mention it, I think I misspoke here at one point regarding these two- I might see if I can fix that.

Thanks for the review of this cute little grinder! Love using my blue one for pour overs. I recently got a Mavo Phantox Pro (it has 45mm burrs) after seeing it being compared to the comandante and zp6, been absolutely loving the balanced, clear cups that it produces! Definitely would like to hear your take on it!

Had this grinder for a while. It’s fantastic for the price. My understanding from 1zpresso is the current Q air and Q have the exact same grinder body so they should be identical in the cup.

A correction. When zeroing, don't take the zero as your zero. Your zero is when your handle no longer moves with gravity when you hold it sideways, and in my case that's marked as 3. I only remember which number is my zero, and count rotations / half rotations + clicks from there. So for '50 clicks' you start at your zero, go counterclockwise one rotation (30 clicks) and a half(15 clicks), and then go 5 clicks further. It's definitely not intuitive but you get used to it.
@DaddyGotCoffeeКүн бұрын
“When zeroing, don’t take the zero as your zero” - this is why I love 1zpresso 🤣🤣 I can’t really complain at the cost but, on these grinders I can’t bring myself to always be mentally shifting my zero point by a handful of steps based on what the dial shows. I know this is “technically correct”, but I go yolo and just consider the zero as zero to save my sanity. I’m not ever grinding close to it anyway. Should we petition them to change their tagline to “it’s not intuitive but you get used to it.”? I like it 🤣☕️

@@DaddyGotCoffee we all follow the path of least neural resistance. I barely understood yours and I'm ok with that. As someone who studied product design and then quit the field, I admire the stubbornness and tenacity of 1zpresso in the face of... what could have been building a user community.

I do really like the color of the "toy-like" grinder. I wish more grinders gave color options. I'm from Norway and I'm really sick and tired of the "modern, sleek minimalistic" look. Give me some colors, dang it. I want my ZP6 in matte metallic green with metallic orange highlights

A much needed review, thank you! I always find that I get a little too much bitterness with my 1zpresso JX-Pro and Kingrinder K2 (same burrs), and I've tested a lot of variables! Can you say whether the Q2 Air would get rid of that excessive bitterness for me?
@DaddyGotCoffeeКүн бұрын
Full transparency - I still need to test both of these. But, since they both have more of an espresso bent its a fair guess that they produce more fines, and thereby bitterness on filter, than the Q/Q-Air

I flubbed an edit at 0:44. Correct info is at 7:11. Sorry for any confusion! You are correct, there were some slight changes to geometry 👌 I’m working on getting a q2 irl to compare to the q!
@thunderphoenix8349Күн бұрын
zeroing. Almost correct. But general practice, dialling 'till the end' until no clicks more possible is with my Q2 and Q-air grinder '0' + ''3 clicks'' more. So always return 3 clicks 'counter clockwise ' to '0' for correct application of the 'grinder table' zpresso Q by 1zpresso specs.

Could someone kindly explain why this is pronounced "E-Z Presso' and not 'One-Z Presso', since there is a number '1' in front of the letter Z.
@DaddyGotCoffeeКүн бұрын
I’ve seen people claiming both are correct. Since EZ seems to be more common I go with that. The “One-Z” camp says it’s not supposed to be “easy” but rather “wants the presso”. I might start going full Canadian renegade with “one zed presso” 😆
