I knew this would happen. People called revival trash without even listening to it because it became cool to hate Eminem, now he's released kamakazi everybody is going to ACTUALLY listen to it and realise they bashed it for no reason other than the narrative set by idiots like DJ Akademiks or charlamagne tha racist . Nobody who's actually heard songs like 'castle' and 'arose' can say revival is a bad album or lacks content. Sad really that we live in a time where people listen to social media before the actual album.

Mark Oshea Yeah… But then you have people claiming that they listen to the whole album, but what I bet happened is, they did like he said on either the Chloraseptic remix, were one of the tracks off of kamikaze, I can’t remember which… LOL, but anyway, they probably just skimmed through all the tracks and went… “This is trash”. I bet you that’s what happened. Because the people who actually did listen to it from what I’ve been reading anyways, have said that, “it’s not his best work, but it’s not his worst”. Myself included.

No Love. Diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 32 years old. Recovery came out in June, I was diagnosed in Sept. "I'm alive again. More alive than I have ever been in my whole life." That hit me hard. You really never feel more alive than when you are facing or have faced death. 26 chemotherapy treatments and I played the song before every infusion. "And you can never break my stride, you'll never slow the momentum at any moment I'm about to blow. You'll never take my pride - killing the flow, slow venom and the opponent is getting no mercy, mark my words, ain't letting up, relentless I smell blood. I don't give a fuck, keep giving them hell. Where was you when I fell and needed help up? You get no love" This was my fuck cancer anthem. Slow venom was chemo. The whole album was my therapy - Cold Wind Blows, Talkin' to Myself, Going Through Changes, Not Afraid, No Love... Every song hit an emotion. Classic.

im a big eminem fan but revival beat production except 3 tracks is pretty garbage even if its rap and lyrics are important its still rap so Beat production play a huge part of it thats why every certified classic album has good beats eminem is a monster if we are talking about lyrics and flow but he needs to work on the beats and some hooks,kamikaze was fire also because of the production
@juliangarcia55986 жыл бұрын
derrick gwinn I think Revival is a bad album and not because of the fact that I don’t understand the lyricism (I definitely do and this cut Believe definitely one of the best on here) but because as a whole it is lacking qualities of a great album. An album can not be good solely off the lyrics alone, if the production is bad it makes the song harder to listen to. If I wanted to appreciate the lyricism alone I would read it like a poem and not listen to it. Also there is plenty of features that do not work at all and make the songs long and ruin the song with a bad chorus. Also, although some songs do have dope bars and deep lyrics (Offended, Believe, Castle, Arose) others like Remind Me are just completely horrible.

"My neighbors say hi" (hi like up above and hi like high on drugs), "upscale" (up like hi), "way in the sky" (sky like up and hi) - we have ourselves a triple. I have heard this song so many times and just caught that. "ad versity if at first" the way he said ad.....versity at.....first was nice. probably a stretch but could his writing be going this deep? "tell them why you're U" "timebombs and horseshoes" - horseshoes are shaped in the letter U. Then later says "U nibomb". Listening to his lyrics turns one into a conspiracy theorist...picking out things that probably weren't there if they aren't so obvious. The "fork and turn" "forced fed" was a subtle touch too.

Broly The Tampanian Lol are we serious tho? I didn’t think I have to explain. Lyrically l, Eminem is great as always on there, no one’s denying that. He can rap his ass off. But the hooks were terrible on most songs, the production was unfitting, simple, and the mixing and mastering seemed minimal at best. His voice was EXTRA grating on a lot of songs. All-in-all, it just didn’t pass the ear test. There were legit only 3 songs that passed the ear test; Believe, Castle, and Arose. Other songs came close but had annoying/trash hooks like Offended and Framed. My biggest problem though, are the songs that make up the bulk of the album that completely miss the mark production-wise. These songs just SOUND bad, like no effort was put into their production or even making it SOUND like good music; Untouchable(probably the worst song of his career where he’s actually being serious, I mean “White boy white boy, you’re a rockstaaar” who tf thinks that sounds good?), Remind Me, Like Home, Bad Husband, Nowhere Fast, Heat, Need Me. Look, I ain’t saying beats and production are everything, but at the end of the day it’s still music. It still needs to sound good in my ears. Like I don’t get it, this is the only album of Eminem’s career where the songs just didn’t SOUND good to listen to. Even Encore and Relapse had amazing production and hooks. And before y’all say “oH yOu OnLY cArE aBoUt bEaTs”. No, I don’t. Like I said, Em’s my favorite rapper because he can carry a simple beat with just his words and make an amazing song. Like on Offended, a simple enough beat that he was carrying with his amazing lyricism but it was lowkey ruined by a terrible hook. He should’ve just had no hook on it and I would consider it great. That’s just me tho.. fuck me for thinking rap music has to sound good, too, and not just be lyrically dense.

In the end of walk on water he says "Bitch i WROTE STAN" WROTE STAN, SNOW MAN, etc.

In the first scheme you could also relate it to cocaine. "Started from the bottom"(cocaine is an upper so you start from the bottom then go up higher and higher). "Like a Snow Man" obviously snow is slang for cocaine. "Ground up"(cocaine is ground up into powder). "I still put hands on you"(some coke addicts use a long fingernail to snort their coke). "Staying wound up" (cocaine often makes people hyperactive and wide awake aka wound up). "That's how I spend time" (coke is one of the most expensive drug habits so you could literally spend all your money on it, so basically you're 'spending' away all that time you spent working hard to get the money). Idk it may be a bit of a stretch but this is Em we're talking about, he does the triple meanings all the time so it wouldn't surprise me.

I'm watching this reaction for a hunderth time already and on 33:33 that N word strikes me every time. I felt that and I'm feeling it now still. It's exactly the feeling I get every time I listen to some of his songs and find some core of the earth deep bars. I feel you. And I'll probably watch this reaction some thousand times again. Because it is most realistic for someone who understands what he is talking about.

He's also saying he grew up on wick wick wick like the scratching of a record. So in that same verse he's talking about his talent. He says _screw it, I'm lit. I blew up on them quick._ He rose to stardom quickly. _That's why they call me firecracker._ They say he's white _and_ he's fire. _I grew up on wic, wick, wick, wick, with a short fuse._ Again he grew up on those old school beats and short fuse referring to the cussing and battle and gangsta rap. He started rapping because he wanted to feel tough and he got bullied. *Yes this man is telling 2 complete true stories at the same time with the same motherf*cking metaphor.* 😳

Believe is my fuel, this song is so fucking lit and here's why. Eminem knows and acknowledges he makes a lot of inspiring songs. Not Afraid, Lose Yourself, Stronger Than I Was, No Love, basically all of Kamikaze: Not Alike, Ringer, Fall, the list goes on. He is reminding us how we fed off his music so much to get through life. Yet we tell him he's lost his skill. Its so fucking good. He's done so much for us and this is the thanks he gets? Holy fuckkkk dawg this shit is godly

Thank you so much for doing this video! I have to sub after this because I honestly didn't know so many people hated this album until kamikaze and it hurt my feelings (like I wrote it lol) cause I really loved this album. I can't pick just one favorite song, but Til I Collapse is up there and there's a song on Revival, I can't remember the name right now but its talking about him dying and his girls being devastated. I was in tears at work listening to that thinking about the limited time I have with my dad. Eminem can really touch your soul with his lyrics, he paints such a vivid picture & a big reason why I love him.

A lot of great lyricism in there and some pretty deep, personal songs as well. Shout out to you guys for giving it a chance here on this amazing channel, good on you guys! 👍🏽

Alexander Kruse i feel Eminem just wanted to mature and do his own thing, there are enough young rappers to pick up the mantle of hip hop. But in stead almost the entire hip hop scene (critics) shit on him and mad disrespected him for being political (and having no content at the same time 🤷🏻♂️) and for production and bla bla bla. Same time the lyrical rappers are being overshadowed by mumbling idiots. So papa Em had to come back and show all these kids how it’s done with Kamikaze. But i love Em no matter what he does. Of course it helps i can listen to pop music too or any kind of music for that matter, if i like it i like it, from Adele to Coldplay to Eminem..

Em is his own enemy. He set the bar so high for himself that a good album is not good enough. Probablk 90% would kill to make an album as good as revival. Like he said, when platinum sales aren't good enough.

I agree with both of you guys, great points - and I just want to add that to me, being able to make as many albums as diverse and creative as Em has should never ever warrant nothing but respect. Some people might enjoy the Infinite type Em, some might enjoy MMLP2, Relapse or even his diss/battle persona more; but all of these things combined just makes for an incredible artist, even if he makes an album that you might not feel as much.

What i love about Eminem is that even when i don’t like the production of a track at the first time hearing, because i want to know the lyrics i listen at least 4-5 times to a song. And the beat will always grow on me. Even untouchable which for me is a great song content wise and the concept with the rock beat, rewinded beat and then hip hop beat is awesome. But it was a tough listen for me at first. It took a long time, but because i kept listening to the lyrics the beat has grown on me and now i like it. But Nowhere fast, Like Home, Walk on Water and many other songs i instantly fell in love with. It helps to have a liberal heart though. Lots of people also just don’t like him being political, this of course because they don’t agree with what he says
