Bruh this song has become a cult classic within the Stan community because of how sincere and honest Eminem is. Personal in the sense of him talking about his artistry. It also says a lot about hip-hop and the fake fans of his who hated the song when it dropped because it wasn’t a hype track like Rap God… I absolutely love this song with a passion and even the live performance version is amazing as well.🔥❤️

I hear you. It’s underrated and this song is really deep and poignant, but you’ve got to admit that his flow on the album was, say, “experimental,”which makes for difficult listening at times, so it makes sense that it didn’t reach his usual wider audience. But he learned from this album and I’d say he perfected this talking-flow and mood on Darkness.
@ishanprince25993 жыл бұрын
@@KevinsDisobedience flow ??? Really so you're saying people didn't fuck with his different flow in every song but they can easily fuck with same flow of other artist which is copied only ?? If you're talking about flow then listen to In Your Head that flow is untouchable and just think about the way he change the flow every time

Yeah, the whole Revival album was made for people who truly listen to Eminem. Not just for the sound or cadence, but the actual words he's saying. And unfortunately even the average listener wouldn't fit that criteria.

I love the all of those Eminems at the desks on typewriters. It's also used as a play on the old adage that 1,000 monkeys on a 1,000 typewriters will eventually crank out all of Shakespeare's works. I've always felt that part of the video was absolutely brilliant.

Eminem tried to make an intimate album, where he opened his heart about his own personal insecurities and his frustrations with the World, and got utterly decimated by critics. In all fairness, the production of the album was really subpar, and Eminem had some really bad lines with bad puns in them. But it was his most honest attempt at a serious album. From what I understand, the backlash was so severe and humiliating that Eminem actually was going to announce his retirement. What changed his mind was Joe Budden's review of the album, where he went at Eminem like a rabid dog. Em felt betrayed that a guy that he bankrolled and was publicly promoting would jump on his neck like that. So he became enraged, and decided to make Kamikaze. A lot of people say that Kamikaze is an album about nothing, just an angry reply to critics. No ST, since Em actually wanted to call it quits for good, and made Kamikaze ONLY to reply to the critics of Revival. From his POV, his career was over anyway after the failure of Revival. What made him change his mind was the warm reception to Kamikaze. But man, Em is being eaten alive by critics like never before. If you look at the reviews for his last 3 albums from the major critics like Roling Stones, Pitchfork, Theneedledrop, Shawn Cee, ARTV, DEHH, Luke James, etc, all his albums have been rated from mediocre to terrible. I know Em still sells really well, but critics carry a lot more weight when it comes to an artist's legacy, and Em's legacy is being rubbed through the gutter right now. It breaks my heart, because I am a 42 year-old man who's been a fan since the SSEP was released way, way back in 1997, and he was such a huge part of my youth.

I know this is a reach.... But as time has passed, when I go back and listen to Revival, it almost feels like Kamikaze was the plan all along. Like if he anticipated the hate that was to come, so he could get the "anger and rage" back. Also, Revival wasn't the typical hip-hop album. That's why it was hated on for the most part. But as a work of art, it really is a masterpiece. An artist fully putting himself on the line for his craft. Letting his fans in, to see his vulnerabilities. Showing his growth as an artist and man. Speaking up about what he believes in. If you really pay attention to the production, it's almost like a call back to many of his past styles. Kind of like he was trying to give a little something to all his different types of fans. Some beats are hip-hop, rock, the pop songs, horrorcore, storytelling, goofy songs etc. Like he was trying to give everyone something. He showed every side of himself on that album, and THAT is art!

I agree King with your sentiment, but it being intentional is to me unlikely. He really thought people would GET revival. They didn't because their expectations were fkd. So he got mad and gave us an amazing appetizer in Kamikaze and a MASTERPIECE in MTBMB. Just my opinion

Sometimes I forget the great things I've done before in my life. I judge myself based on who I am today. But today I might be just a mess and feel like shit. I almost convince myself that I am shit. And it takes me thinking back, and appreciating my past (Stan like) achievements, to feel good again. To be reminded of the levels I am able to achieve. To realize that I'm not just the product of a moment, or a day. But the product of everything great I've done in my life thus far. It takes all that to realize that I am great. And it takes knowing that I am great to have the confidence to be great.

I completely get that feeling. After some medical shit happened, I constantly think I’m awful at what I’ve dedicated the last few decades to and it sucks to feel that. It’s taken a few years to dig myself out of the post medical stuff, I had to relearn some things in a different way. I’m finally getting to the place where I was, or as close as I get to it and that’s okay. Life is change and how we adapt to that makes us who we are. The bad and good things that happened in my past, from failure to success, made me who I am and I’m okay with that.

Love this track, similar to Darkness, he launches an album with a super dope story track but takes a bullet from the media. I remember seeing all the feedback on line about how lovely the chorus was then em ruins the track. One of my favourite tracks. There are a handful of good tracks on Revival - I am 100% sure if he ditched a couple of tracks from Kamakaze & replaced them with Arose, river, castle, walk on water and remixed untouchable, also included frame, remix nowhere fast & chloroceptic then we would have had a diamond 18 track album - not alike, Venom, fall, ringer,, greatest…. There would have been a great mix of substance and anger plus better beats. That would have been a classic

I can't think of anything Charlamane put out that was rememberable. Granted, that Revival was not the best with the beats compared to the albums before(or after). But he wanted to send deep messages with bars, some of them were good in the message. I also like River feat.
