My dad always said to my sister and me when we got a new cat - l'm not taking care of it. It's all yours, remember." Then, on the first stormy night, he'd be out the back door calling the cat in so it "wouldn't get sick". He never fooled anyone. He was the biggest softy of the family. LOL

My dad was the same way. But eventually he caved and even ended up being the one who changed his litter most of the time 😂

My boss’s wife once told me a story about how they got their cat. The cat distribution system picked the wife as she was coming home from work. She brought her home and the boss said “She can stay until morning because the shelter is closed.” The next morning, the wife stepped into the kitchen to make coffee and saw my boss cooking scrambled eggs. The wife thought “Aw, that’s so sweet, he’s making me scrambled eggs!” And then she remembered that neither of them liked scrambled eggs. Right there, winding around the boss’s legs and purring up a storm, was the cat. And yes, the cat is his baby now.

My dad never wanted any animals ever. I moved in with him and had to bring my cat and her baby with me to take care of him. He wasn’t happy about it until I walked into the house with a small mama cat and a micro baby. He was all in after that. Those cats made him so happy. He got to see the baby grow into a bigger cat than his momma. My dad passed away a few weeks ago. The love he had for these cats still melts my heart. He died happy and we put pictures of the cats in his casket with his Bible . He will always have them with him.

My father was a big softy towards cats. He kept saying he hated this one cat for flopping on his papers while he was grading and started to play with his pen. I know that my father was just joking. Even having one cat that he did really liked and even adopting another cat. My father even liked dogs,too. He grew up on having a cat or a dog.

Sometimes the man and the critter just have an exclusive understanding that no one else gets. My dad had one of those long, skinny dark tabby cats with huge double feet that like to get up high and look down like an owl. This cat liked very rough grooming from him, but ONLY him. He would tap with an old boar bristle brush and she would come running from a mile away, stick her butt in the air, and wail. He grabbed her tail and brushed her spine hard against the grain, then remove wads of dead hair from the brush while calling her indelicate names. Nobody else could brush her at all, even nicely. If it sounds like rough romance to you, well . . .you should have seen the belly scratching afterwards.

When my husband is on latest, my cat always knows when he is home, she always waits for her supper (Daddy, chips). We could be having a great cuddle then wham she is on her way to her daddy😹😻😹😻
