Yay! I live in Hapcheon, about half an hour away! I subscribed! I think we get Daegu dialect here. Some of it certainly sounds familiar. 🙂

I'm a foreigner living in Daegu and absolutely love speaking and learning 대구 사투리!! It's such a beautiful dialect full of features of Middle Korean that have been lost in 서울말. So not only cool, but it also maintains so much linguistic heritage 😆

I've lived in Daegu for 20 years, for me Daegu dialect is "just Korean"...people from other areas have the dialect ㅋ ㅋ

When I found out that there were five Korean dialect. I was like oh my goodness I’m going to have trouble if I travel around the country. That’s if I ever make it over there. 오빠요. Oppa yo. Is cute way of saying oppa. 오빠.

사실 5가지보다 더 많아요 한국전쟁때 피난온 조부모들에 의해 알려진 황해도사투리(영화 1987의 비밀경찰보스) 한국계중국인이 대규모로 한국에 취업하면서 알려진 연변사투리(범죄도시1편,황해) 중국국경과 마주하여 탈북한 탈북인들의 양강도사투리(오징어게임 강새벽)

Yay! I live near Daegu! When I first started driving I asked how to ask for petrol. I was told "만땅이요" or something similar. So that's what I said for quite some time. Attendants seemed to understand. Apparently locally it means "Fill it up" at petrol stations. 🤣 I didn't realise it was 사투리 until later. I subscribed to your channell @JustKorean.

저도 대구에 사는데 사투리는 좀 다른 특징도 들었어요! "알았지?" 대신에 "알았제"로 하고 대구만 이말 하는지 모르겠는데 "비닐봉투" 대신에 "비닐봉다리"도 써요!

When I was watching, I was thinking the Daegu speech had a Japanese feel, and then not long after she said that some people use the Japanese names for certain items, I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or if maybe Daegu in particular had more Japanese influence historically.

I had 'Sintto' youtube channel show up on my feed. When she speaks, her vowels are very rounded and spoken more toward the back of the throat. She said 'kapjagi' once but pronounced it 'chapjagi' like the Yiddish 'chutzpa'. I am curious what dialect she is speaking.
