10:46 Ah, I’m afraid that’s a rather incorrect assumption. The truth is, the vast majority of us in Indonesia are not particularly proficient in English. It appears that you were merely fortunate enough to encounter a couple of individuals who spoke the language well, but they are far from representative of the broader population. In fact, our collective fluency in English is considerably lower than that of our Southeast Asian neighbors. For instance, the Philippines, as a former American colony, boasts widespread English proficiency, while Singapore and Malaysia, once British colonies, have deeply ingrained English into their education systems and daily lives. Comparatively, Indonesia lags behind in this regard.
@Onnarashi7 сағат бұрын

I'm a non-native English speaker (Norwegian)., and Ana doses have an accent, but I think it's very subtle. Maybe native English speakers will think differently. Ayway, I think Ana's English is very good. Julia's accent is more noticeable, I think, but I also think she speaks good English.

Eighth day of requesting this idea: Hello! It will be really nice if you guys made a video of comparing different Chinese dialects like the Hokkien dialect, hakka dialect, and cantonese dialect with Korean and Japanese. And get these people who speak it from China specifically. You can find some majority of hokkien speaking people in the Fujian province of China. You can find majority of Hakka speaking people from Guangdong province in China. You can find majority of Cantonese speaking people from Guangdong province in China. This is because these dialects are closer to old and Middle Chinese. So there will be more similarities when you compare Korean, japanese. I’ve been wanting someone to make a video like that for a long time.

As a Brit, I can tell everyone that there is no ‘English accent’, singular; there are ‘English accents’, and hundreds of them. IME, those foreigners who try to ape an ‘English accent’ end up just sounding very bland and like someone stuck in the mid-Atlantic, half-way between America and the UK, or an extra in a Jane Austen period drama. Personally, I find it infinitely more attractive when foreigners speak my native language perfectly but completely retain their own accent. After all, in Britain the French speaking English are famously ‘sexy’ sounding, so why would you want to dilute this by trying to master some perceived English accent when there are literally hundreds to choose from? 🤷♂️

These days, with so many people consuming countless hours of native media, many foreigners have English accents that are very close to those of native speakers. The only people who would be able to spot foreign accents in such cases would be ESL teachers or some linguists that write books analyzing the characteristics of foreigners from all over the world when they speak English, such as some Slavic speakers ommiting some articles, Japanese speakers that add o's to the end of words, so good becomes goodo or Brazilian speakers adding ee's to the end of words, so Facebook becomes Facebookey, und so weiter.

Aleyna from Türkiye has a good accent level, so it was hard to recognise. But we Turks have a really distinctive English accent. Since we pronounce every letter in a word in Turkish, we tend to do it in English as well. Also, we pronounce some sounds the same way in Turkish which causes totally disaster. Like "r". We have a strong "r" in Turkish but in English, there isn't. We can't pronounce some sounds since we don't have like "th in think", or "ae in bad". We pronounce them like tink, and bed. Finally, due to having agglutinative grammar, Turkish isn't fast. That's why we cannot speak English fast, we speak slowly.

the famous Doener Kebab was NOT brought to Germany but created in Germany (Berlin) explicit FOR German/Western taste at the time when fast food became a thing (thats why it looks like fast food and not like the 'plate meal' in Turkey - which not many knew and know. Thats also the reason why you have much more Doener shops in Germany than in any other country)
