"At least he fights this war." And yo and behold, Daemon offer himself as bait. A dragon willing to wiggle his tail to dupe the crab out of it's cave.

The plot of this conflict makes little sense to me. The problem is they are pirates, if you burn their ships they are a bunch of idiots stuck on a rock
@robosoldier115 ай бұрын
the step stones are essentially a group of islands that are a geographic vantage point. Not only for trade purposes but just shipping and power projection. The reason these pirates in particular are a problem is they aren't a rag tag group. They are in essence a coalition that at the time is backed by an alliance of major city states on the other continent of Essos. Eventually this alliance that formed the triarchy as its called falls apart after the war for these islands due to infighting. But if the islands are held they can stymie Westeros economically as a whole and be under constant threat of invasion by a foreign power.

@@robosoldier11 but they can just sail around

@@imalwaysbluffing Clearly not based on the events that lead to this. As their trading ships were raided by the pirates. I'd recommend you looking at an in universe map. the islands are smack dab on a major route if your idea is to trade in areas south of those islands your going have to go through them. Also at the time also Dorne is not apart of the yoke of the iron throne. So they have not many port options to utilize without again having to go through this island chain. Which is being housed by a foreign power that can use it as a leverage point. Any sort of nation even in modern day would find need to remedy it strategically.

@@imalwaysbluffingSail around what? Have you taken a look at the map of ASOIAF’s known world? The only way a ship from any of Westeros’ major ports can conduct trade with other Westerosi or Esso cities is by going through the step stones, therefore making it an important strategic stronghold for free trade. Where do you expect sailors to “sail around” if not through the step stones?

Isn’t this like incredibly dishonourable to do fake a white flag
@NtoTheM Жыл бұрын
Just as dishonorable as it would be to feed prisoners to crabs.

It's actually considered a warcrime not just dishonourable. Even if "war crimes" are a more modern concept respecting the white flag isn't. Because if the 2 sides start faking white flags there will be no mercy no peace talks ever ...

Starks keep their word. Arryns are supposed to be honorable. Targaryens were a bunch of insane lusty lunatics obsessed with power, dragons, and prophecies.

It is, tho: 1. They are pirates, not knights 2. Daemon's no knight as well. 3. There are no Starks in this scene.

One single change would have made it palatable for me. If it showed the Crabfeeder's men breaking ranks against his will to charge Daemon, rather than him directing them to, it would have made a bit more sense.
