I learned a great line from Avatar 2 that symbolizes my issues with her character Her lambasting Criston Cole for "Restraint and Justice" when he knows what is needed right to cement her family's rule is harsh and brutal and cruel and Alicent is none of those things. Aemond is my favorite. As a kid he was bullied by everyone in his family for not having a dragon so he went and got himself the biggest dragon. All the kids in his family attack him for taking the dragon and he even loses an eye for it. All of those characters and their interpersonal drama are far more interesting to watch on a scene-by-scene basis. The Blacks have a fun "scrappy underdog" vibe, but the Greens just have more drama.

Something show watchers may not be aware of is that Lords and Ladies were turned off by Rhaenyra brazenly fathering bastards as well, who would succeed her upon her death. That is a stench too foul for many of the Lords and Ladies supporting the Greens. This angle isn't often thought of due to people looking at this from a modern lens and hyper fixating on what we would describe as sexism. Keep in mind: sexism wasn't a word in circulation at the time, and bastardy today is so normalised we don't even use the term bastard, we treat them as any other person, but in these times, bastardy was viewed with disgust. There are many reasons not to support the blacks, but one becomes blinded when looking at things with 21st century glasses instead of 12th century reality.

@@iammiist thats unclear at this time, unless that was confirmed in an interview. It may be that Aemond desires affection and affirmations and can only imagine his mom would have given it to him. But like the throne, was stolen out from under him before he even knew it.
