Watch our new Spotlight Video to learn about how DAERA uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support decision making in the areas of policy development and implementation, sustainable agriculture, protecting the environment, and supporting rural communities.
The video showcases a range of ways the department has adopted GIS technology to capture, discover, analyse, and report on and spatially referenced data from the office or in the field, and via its Enterprise GIS platform, the “DAERA Information Hub”.
GIS has helped DAERA to have clear visibility of the bigger picture, allowing for more efficient and targeted operations, with faster response to disease outbreaks and animal welfare interventions and increased environmental practices - and ultimately to benefit the citizens of Northern Ireland.
GIS and the information Hub continue to make DAERA an insight-driven organisation, placing data at the heart of all decision making.
