Yes! Can't wait for this remake! Speaking of dark games, there is one i played made by the same guy who made pony island and is now one of my favorite games this year called "the hex"! I shall not spoil anything about it, cause i am a good man! All i will tell you is that 6 characters from 6 video games are at a inn, the manager gets a call, there is going to be a murder soon. When is the murder and who is going to kill who? That's what you need to figure out by learning about the 6 characters each with their own backstory. Each backstory has a different gameplay style depending on what game genre that character came from, like platforming, fighting, RPG, etc. The reason for why it's one of my favorite games this year and one of the darkest games i had played must be seen for yourself.

It’s not anywhere near as dark as any of the games on the list, but Phoenix Wright Spirit of Justice surprised me with how dark it is. Here’s why (spoilers ahead): - -Phoenix (or any defense attorney in Kur’ain) is risking his own life by defending his clients -The villain from Case 2 killed an innocent man and tried to put the Wright Anything Agency out of business because of an accident that happened ten years prior -A man committed suicide to protect his wife from being found guilty of murder -Kur’ain’s court system is downright corrupt -Queen Gaa’ran faked the murder of her own sister in (what I assume is) an attempt to usurp the throne I still haven’t finished of the game (I’m near the end of the day 2 investigation in case 4), so I’ll update this comment after I finish the game)

I don’t think the Russian roulette minigame in LISA was that bad to be honest. I just threw the party members I wasn’t using or actively disliked under the bus, which worked pretty well for me. If everything went poorly, I just reset to keep my active party alive. Maybe that could work for you?

Alice in wonderland makes me think of 2 things. One, a world were eating or drinking grows or shrinks you, allowing you to devour or be devoured by who ever ate or drank while in wonderland. Two, an extremely dark and psychotic world where logic is dead in all ways possible or impossible.

Okay Love Nikki would have been an honorable mention on my list beaches under the cute dress up game atmosphere there is a ton of death. Bobos dad gets shot in front of her when she was 13, Orlando's bestfriend was shot in front of him, Lunar is stabbed by Nidhogg, there's a war happening, Yvettes mom died, Kimi's dad died or mom died (i forget which) Bobo gets corrupted even though shes saved its still dark. My personal favorite example is one of the suits that has super dark descriptions that imply that this witch/guard was brutally murdered and then risen from the death. She went back to where she died and tried to put herself back together.

Spec ops the line is especially dark to me, because of how the tragedy of it all insidiously creeps through the game. From the surface it looks no more gritty then the average Call of Duty. However as you follow through on the main characters spiral into madness- as his excuses for what he’s done collapses down around him. It’s narrative so refreshingly blunt on war, that no matter what you did you are not the good guy. There’s no happy end and there’s no going back.

You probably haven't played it, but Lisa the Painful has a game that came before it (don't know the name of it or if the game was created before or after Lisa the Painful) that is equally as disturbing. In the game we figure out why Lisa hung herself in the main menu screen. Not going to mention anything about it because the thought is too horrific; but look it up if you want to know.

Okay, so, this video intrigued me so damn much, I bought Alice: Madness Returns. I not only played the game, but I’m nearly 100 completed (every collectible) the game. For those who don’t know, this user made another video mentioning this game, and he wanted to tell what the bad guy did, but CENSORED it. At that rate, I just had to play it. How ‘bout this for a darker game pitch? So, quadruplets are born. Quadruplet number 1 grows up to be quite good with technology, making both good and bad things, though bad things are mostly for self-defense. One of the good things he created was the robo, an advanced robot with incredible strength, a flight system, medium puzzle-solving and logical skills, and a region regrowth function for desolate environments, as well as some built-in self-defense weapons. He shows this off to two of his brothers, quadruplet # 2 and quadruplet#3, who are planning to start a business that quadruplet#2 would own. Quadruplet#1 explains how versatile these humanoid bots are, and gives them a cloning device. However, he warns that more than 500 would increase the chances of the robots malfunctioning. So naturally, they make 500,000 behind quad#1’s back. However, as a safety measure, they put 13 “agents” in charge of watching the robots and moving them to a designated location using teleportation guns. Quad#4 was the last of these 13. Because of this, the other agents called him the last one, the thirteenth one, the unlucky one, and more. Some agents even physically hurt quad#4. He asked his brothers for any other position than agent, as he knew others were available, but the two other brothers, oblivious to quad#4’s plight, told him that he was selfish and spoiled, and that he should be happy with such a high position. However, he can’t take it anymore and starts working on a plan to take control of the facility. The day that the robots were to be publicly accessed, quad 4 shuts down everything, reveals that the agents have been brainwashed through an experimental technology, and uses the agents to through quad 2 out of a chute along with apocalypse gas, then closing the chute and carrying quad 3 to a the facility’s basement, which would later become a torture center for quad 3, who would be forced to believe that quad 2 was horrible through a blue liquid in tubes above quad 3 that would put him to sleep and make him have nightmares about quad 2. At one point, one half of his body failed, and was partially fixed with robotic parts. Even some of his morality and feelings were channeled into a chip by close contact with quad 3’s brain. At this point, quad 4 learns that quad 1 saved quad 2 from death by apocalypse gas, so quad 4 informs quad 1 of quad 2’s abuse of the cloning machine. Quad 1 is PISSED, and wants to destroy both quad 2 and the facility. Thus, quad 4 realizes that robo chips were not too manipulatable, and thus he opts for quad 3’s brain chip to insert into a robot, with which he can escape the facility. well, one of two. He chooses the good chip over the bad chip, and inserts it into the original robo, robo-1. And that’s where my game Robo-1, begins. Of course, most of this exposition is told throughout the game.
