They had pretty much made most of the songs in Homework long before it was released but they were mainly just for live shows or for singles that would be released by Soma records I'm pretty sure. They decided to release them as an album thru Virgin Records and held the daftendirektour throughout '97. At the beginning of the tour, not many people knew who they were. With the release of Homework and the success of it, by the end of the tour, more than 45% of the crowd knew who they were. Pretty cool!

I was standing right next to this cameraman the whole time. To his left. This was in a tent with a floor that was entirely mud by this point. There had been a biker party in the campground just before this rave, so the grass was all gone. Then it started raining.. Thomas Bangalter is one of the meanest TB-303 programmers in the world, which you can hear at around 3:37. Thanks again for posting this historic video :)

I was 16 with a fake ID sneaking into clubs and going to raves and heard Around the World for the first time. Blew my mind and changed my life and musical tastes forever. I ended up moving to Europe in my twenties when euro dance music hadn’t hit America fully yet. Daft Punk was ground breaking in the 90s born from their own love of the Chicago House sound and really started the electronic dance music scene world wide. Interstella(r) geniuses!

I was there. Even though it happened 10 miles from my house, it was the longest trip I've ever had. I couldn't use a payphone for 2 days. It was just way too complicated after getting Windowpane from Frankie Bones. Magnificent weekend. 5 Stars!!
