China Mac really turned his life around, and it's an inspiring story. Especially if you watched the interview between him and MCJin and their apologies towards each other. China Mac will, with time, make a huge impact onto the Asian American community because he's one of the most outspoken people against the hatred towards Asians and it's pretty cool to see him change his view on life.

Daftpunk have been big in Europe for forever. These guys come from House music which is a less manufactured sound, which combines the hiphop routes of mixing and the synth style. People tend to forget House Music actually do uses real instruments, so their R.A.M. album isn't really off point. Around the time Daftpunk got big in the 90s so did Gorrilaz. Prodigy predates both.

David I just wanna say that I've known about you for almost 10 years, but didn't watch you much back in the day. I only subscribed for the guests and some topics of my interest. Subscribing to you was one of those "just in case" he has/covers X on his show. From the handful of podcasts I've seen I'm sure I have Plenty of differences with you. However, I'm so glad you're not an SJW and keep it genuine. I don't care for many big KZbin channels, but you are one of the very few I subscribed to. You and others are slowly inspiring me to make content again (my channel here is not for that).

@DavidSo I usually do not comment, however the issue of cultural appropriation is very tricky within the black community. The term cultural appropriation has been twisted from its original intent. It really did not become a huge issue until people (including people from African counties) started saying that black people from America do not have culture. It also stems from economic issues. Throughout the history of America, black inventions were stolen during the patent process by white companies. Black music was stolen and given a white face while black people were told that we have not created anything to contribute to American culture. For example, black people have been saying for years that Jack Daniels was created by a black man. The Jack Daniels brand only recently admitted that a black slave taught him how to make the whiskey. The things that we are told and have been passed down through are families are discarded as made-up. Black Americans are treated as culturally irrelevant while our culture is exploited by other people. Most black people do not have a problem with people wearing certain styles if the credit for the inspiration is given. I personally do not understand the dreads thing because many cultures had dreads. The braids issues come from other cultures not supporting black people when we are disciplined at school or work, but then wearing them because they think they are cool. People who give credit for the inspiration usually do not have problems. Of course, you still have the extreme people who need therapy who will say something. However, it is important for other cultures to understand that there is trauma in the black American society as a whole that needs to be addressed. But currently, we (black Americans) are still living with the oppression that caused the trauma in the first place just in different forms. The difference with the tattoos is that black people are not generally profiting off putting a tattoo on their skin and wearing other cultures clothing by claiming that it is black culture. We fully acknowledge that it is Asian culture and most of the time buy the clothes from Asian boutiques. I cannot speak on the behalf of all black people, but I think most black people do not understand why Asian people do not wear some of the outfits because we ourselves love them and think the outfits are beautiful. I would think that the issue that most Asians would have coming from black people would be black people thinking Asians are trying to be white but also copying black culture without giving credit.

Hey David, a great book about Asian American history is Strangers From A Different Shore by Ronald Takaki! I think it also comes in an audiobook recorded by the author if that’s more your thing. But it gave me a lot of insights as an American born Filipino why America has never seemed to accept Asians as Americans

I don’t give a crap who people are if they are creators. If they have a dope personality that’s nice but I just want to buy what they make because I like it. I can probably tell you something interesting about one artist whose music I have. Other than that I’ve never really been the type to follow trends or care about celebrities. All I need is music and entertainment and all they need is to be paid to keep doing it. However with KZbin you actively follow their life because it’s more personal than just buying someone’s music on whatever store. That’s different. People who are like “cancel then they committed this crime” or whatever. I’m just like “but why do I care. Does it effect their production? No? Then why would I tear them down? Now it becomes my problem. Let the law do it.” Don’t know if that point if view is out if the ordinary but I’m also a young black person that really doesn’t like current hip hop or most if the music people in my demographic (young adult) enjoy. 😂 i liked anime when people assumed it was just weird and now everyone loves it because it’s popular. It is what it is. People be fake and life is full of lemmings.

David y’all probably cleared this up bc you’re friends with her Bf, but he addressed that situation and the influencer (his gf) said that the “fan” knew she was Vietnamese and not Chinese (which is what the text was) and the fan didn’t care to acknowledge that + didn’t see the problem with still asking. That’s where the problem stemmed from

The acceptance of racism in the US generally shifted from a blunt form to flying under in the late 60s/early 70s. Of course, blunt forms of racism still exist but a lot of it is normalized in the shit we do and believe. The oversensitivity perspective does a disservice to Black and Brown people (and other marginalized groups) who speak to what other people don't see or know. It's in the stories and jokes we perpetuate in our interpersonal rel., and disrupting to speak to that is the necessary confrontation that needs to happen. Cancel culture is weak to the extent that nobody is perfect or going to say the right thing 100% of the time but accountability for bigoted ideas, intended or not, will come at you quick cause you gotta know.

David, I usually just like & watch but you told the story Rick told about Tway & it was completely wrong. The girl DM’d a random photo, she knew Tway wasn’t Chinese & said she did it on purpose, then Tway told her that’s not cool she said she doesn’t give a fuck so Tway posted it. He told the entire story on the NoChaserPodcast episode about Tim & Chia’s baby.

Ok so in regards to Louis CK, obviously wasn't there, but a lot of girls in situations like that freeze as an reaction (simply don't know what to do) instead of flight or fight so sometimes it's kinda like a deer in headlights. Simply put, they felt violated and sometimes were actually violated and that shit can be traumatizing. Imagine forever having unwanted flashbacks that effects your ability to have sex.
