Human After All is such an underrated album, most people say they didn't work hard enough but Thomas said it's a contrast to Discovery which took years to craft. I see it as a minimalist work, the entire purpose of everything can be fully seen in Alive 2007, you mix the "repetitive" of this album with the heavy work that was Discovery and the middle ground that was Homework and you have a masterpiece. Daft Punk were often misunderstood and always ahead of their time, they were musical geniuses.

My friend once said that daft punk has always proved that there are some stories and themes which can only be perfectly expressed in house music. Touch was the song that proved that to him and me, but I feel that this entire album is an even bigger testament to that. The underlying theme of the album is "technology is being poorly implemented, and could be detrimental to humanity if we don't check it". Technologic shows that such cookie cutter consumable media is what raises the next generation, I've always felt that the repeatative nature of Robot Rock is meant to show how robots (or just any automated action without the "human touch", I guess a condition that humans can take on if they lose their passion) can make something that is in all respects good, yet lacks the soul of humanity. All these themes are tied together in this song, as the element that defines the difference between soulless "robots" and humans is emotion. If you lack any sort of emotion for what you make, whether it is music, shows, books, anything, it will inevitably become automated, meaningless, shallow. This album gets a lot of flak for being the worst daft punk album, and I think I agree in regards to the music. But I can say without a doubt that it is the most thematic thing they've made (maybe alongside alive 2007). To top it all off, can you imagine any other format that could convey that theme like this? There really are some themes that can only be expressed properly through house.

I was born 2 years before Discovery was released, and it feels somewhat nostalgic, but Human After All is my favorite. It also feels more nostalgic. This is the end of a generation of music, now that they are gone. They did wonders for the music industry in my eyes. They essentially made house and other genres like it.
