One day, I was messing around with the chord progression of 'Veridis Quo' and started to sing the vocal part of "Nightcall". So I decided to remake the track of Daft Punk and put the vocal part of Kavinsky into the instrumental. I hope you're gonna like what I did there.

My great uncle passed away a little over a year ago. These two songs are what I listened to nonstop as I went through the motions of daily life. He was as close to a grandfather figure I think I will ever have in my life. I’ve been living in his house as the head of the house for about 10 months now. I’ve done so many repairs and renovations. My bedroom is the room where he died and my private space is my actual grandfathers childhood closet(it’s very cluttered in the house and it’s not the type of stuff one would want to get rid of, so such a small space is really all I get till I can start selling larger lots of stuff.) Anyways, in my small closet when I listen to this song, my emotion is indescribable. I feel like a kid stricken with grief, a man taking care of a household, alone, responsible for my fiancé’s wellbeing. It makes me feel all these things at once.

Really cool cover, but it's a bit confused. The beginning is some kind of victorian age clavier, and the rest doesn't use the same instrument anymore. In any case, I love it

Thank you! It's something I like to do to mix old instruments with electronic sounds (here the harpsichord but it can be the violin on others). It remains present in the title, especially on the chorus where it plays the melody. But it's true that it's surrounded by other synthesizer sounds that can hide its presence. :D

It's very... confused? A certainly unique and a very good style if applied correctly, but it sounds confused currently. I'm not a professional musician, I really don't know what I'm talking about, but here's my take on it: It's naturally two separate songs, but unfortunately the instrumentation is emphasizing its... two-tonality -- I think the idea of a mashup is to amalgamate two differences into a harmonized whole. The instrumentation is jarring against the more synthesized instruments -- and not in a very good way -- if it had some violins to support that harpsichord/clavicle it'd sound a bit more sure of itself in its choice of usage, because it seems very stilted and alien by itself against the synths. The vocalists clash with the synth instrumentation too, much like the harpsichord -- if the effect had less tin, more echo, more bass, then perhaps alongside with the third vocalist 'mumbling' that would usually follow each of the male's verses in Nightcall, it could complete the 'phrase' better and harmonize with the more synthesized instruments like that super-full-sounding 8-step synth. The female vocalist is singing in a different mode which normally works, but by the end of 'they're talking about you boy' it sounds like a wrong note when paired against Veridis Quo. The drums are very synthetic, which would be good if the entire thing was synthetic or at least mixed well, but with the harpsichord and the stilted vocalists, it seems more at the forefront than at the back supporting each of the bars, which is distracting from the melody. I could say it sounds very empty, almost like it's making room for a third -- or even fourth -- song. Human After All or Instant Crush, probably -- if set to the proper key, I think their synthetic vibes would offset this current mix quite nicely. Since it's been many years, perhaps you could use your current knowledge to update this!
