When I heard Yma O Hyd for the first time being sung by Welsh football supporters on KZbin, I realised how much I had missed out on not being taught Welsh at my (independent) school in Cardiff. And then, on top of that, having moved to England (for the jobs), I became determined to learn Welsh. This I am doing on Duolingo (364 day streak!). Thus, what I am trying to say in a convoluted way is that my rebirth as a Welsh woman rediscovering her homeland and language is due to Dafydd Iwan. Diolch yn fawr, Dafydd ❤ PS as an exile, I will be moving back to Cymru in 2024! ❤

I cry every time I hear this song, it is so beautiful. In America, the traditional greeting of "How are you?" is always (by reflex) answered, "Good Thanks"... As someone who suffers from drug-resistant depression, the only 2 options previously were "Good" (which would be a lie), or "Bad" (which would be the truth but then they would be constantly worried about me all day which makes me feel guilt... HERE is exactly what the song has done for me (I realize this song is about a VERY different topic)... It's allowed me to GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION to respond with "I'm not OK, but I'm still here and still fighting"... This song (Even though not written for depressed people) gives a voice to those with depression. We may not be all right (right now), but Yma O Hyd! I don't speak a single word of Welsh, but I am learning (slowly) the lyrics to this song... I know it's a pipe-dream, but one day I'd like to be in the stands hearing everyone sing this! (It won't happen, but one can dream!).

I'm a Welsh man living in England. I moved to Nottingham when I was 6 years of age and I couldn't speak English. I was born in glanamman hospital. My parents made a decision not to speak Welsh to me in England! That part of my life I so wish they shouldn't have done. I'm so proud of being Welsh still to this time of my life. Your song just makes me proud of being Welsh. I'm in tears when I listened to the Welsh national anthem ❤❤ I spent 4 years in gwyn ca gurwen when Gareth Edwards and the 71 rugby team played at the local pitch. Amazing times ❤

Chware teg boys. I remember Roy Noble on BBC Wale or S4C possibly on Heno. He made light hearted programmes with intelligence and bonhomie. He still looks fantastic.

Penderyn whisky is excellent, but hard tp dins in the USA. Somewhat like bourbon, which makes sense because of the the first bourbon makers was Evan Williams of Wales. Oh, and Dafidd Iwan is a great man.
