I also own this kayak. I weigh 175lbs. and stand about 5' 10". Works great for me in the mushy gulf coast surf. Had it out on clean shoulder high sets and had a blast.

Dagger really should state that a surf kayaker will be able to catch 10 times as many waves as normal surfers. It's easier to get out past the waves, you're able to catch more of those mushy, soft waves, and ride them further. And the feature I like best...my body is not in the water with all those sharks. Yeah, I said it. Here in Florida, we get migrations of thousands of bull sharks and sandbar sharks and I personally don't want to swim with them.

My frustration is that even here in Florida it is virtually impossible to find one. I finally found someone about 3 hours away. I'd like to rent one first to see how I like it.

It's definitely not a blind buy kayak. It requires an upfront agressive posture while trying to push out in to the surf. My experience is that it's fine for surfing in long clean waves like a longboard. Does not carve particularly well because of the length. I would not re-buy.

Down-winding ability on a medium sized lake with a summer 1-2 foot wind-wakeboard boat created swell ?

The issue I have with this kayak is the foot wells. They force your feet into a strange position and chew up your ankles. Stop the video at about :45 and you will see what I mean.

I demoed it - you need to be about 5 foot 6 and 160 lbs - or else you are too big for the boat
