Oh my God, I can't believe you reacted to this! I love you guys! ❤️ When I was in school I was a female Govinda once. We had a dahi handi competition in school where girls competed with girls and boys competed with boys, our team stood 2nd :) This festival is one of my favourite ones :)

Yogurt is symbolic , the handies or the pots are filled with mostly by colored water, and here also lots of playing with colors like holi. Yogurt is consumed on this festival by all.

Woah! Great surprise. This is extremely popular in Maharashtra. Every village, every neighborhood here has a team and celebrates it. I have participated too. We used have it in our schools too. While its mostly celebratory and is usually the height of 15-20 ft and we break it just for fun and celebration. There are specially contests where dedicated teams like mentioned in the video participate,here the height is lot higher, and these contests have amazing prizes. These events are amazing, trust me. The bonding, the friendship, the belongingness and team spirit is unmatched.

Krishna grew up in gokul There was king kansa of mathura Kansa used to import all the dairy from gokul to mathura as tax So in order to stop that he used to break bowl of yogurt with help of his friends Not just because he loved yogurt ! 😊

Although I've always questioned existences of krishna as god, but this festival is surely one of my favourite! This festival is love, doesn't matter what team you are supporting, when they are making the pyramid, you want them to win! You have no idea guys what this does to us, watching a dahi handi live on the streets of pune and mumbai is a life experience, your heart will beat so fast. Although the video missed about the celebrations we do on previous day from 9pm to midnight on the day of dahi handi to celebrate the birth, some people stay awake and celebrate lord krishna's birth whole night we do pooja, sing songs and keep a fast that day!! It is amazing! You should really come to India on dahi handi.

Oh ganapati is coming up!!!! That's the name of the god, the festival is called ganeshotsav but it's huge here in Mumbai and Pune, all over Maharashtra. There's music and dance and worship of the god that we believe gave us conscience. It's basically 10 days of pure fun with your family and friends!!!!!!!!!!
