Size 20 wheels are the best! Just did a 203km ride using my Dahon Boardwalk, equipped it with Schwalbe Marathon Plus tire, Brooks B. 17 leather saddle (champion special) and drop bar, you have a folding touring bike. Upgraded to a 9 speed cassette to have that 34T chain ring at the back paired with 52T front and your good on any uphill or long flat roads.

Really cool bike! I've heard Dahon bikes are pretty good and the 20in wheels are very efficient, I think the ease of use in certain cases differ when it comes to wheel size so I'd think a 20in bike is better for long commutes and a 16in bike is better for taking on public transit and airplanes. I just recently bought myself a Brompton for my birthday and I love how small it is and it's perfect for me because I live close to the train station and it's a 40 minute walk vs a 10-15 minute bike ride and I can go straight to the airport from the train so it really opens up my travel options to live car free. Apparently Bromptons are never on sale but Amazon US has them heavily discounted right now. Hope you and your family are well Cruise. Btw I love your Snoopy shirt Thuong!

Great bike, Cruise. It's identical to my Dahon Vitesse i7. Only difference, other than color (mine is red), is the gearing. i7 means internal 7 speed hub. The quality of Dahon is superb. I think you both will truly like it. The only issue I had with mine, and that is I found the ride a little squirrelly. Hard to maintain a nice straight line. I mentioned that to you before, and you where right. Time and practice. As far as folding is concerned, I prefer to keep mine unfolded as well. I have no need to fold it up unless I want to pack it in the car. My wife has the Dahon D3. It's smaller than the Vitesse/Mariner. It has 16" wheels with fatter tires and a three speed internal hub. I enjoy riding that as well, and at 6'1" tall, it's not that bad. I hope you both switch over to the Mariner. You won't be disappointed. Enjoyed your video. Can't wait to see you both Merrily/Mariner roll along together in your next video. 👍
@TwoWheelCruise2 жыл бұрын
The internal hub sounds really nice! And yeah, the handling on most folding bikes can be very twitchy at first, but you get used to them. We really like the change of pace being back on some 20 inch wheels

Very nice bike alright. Also have a Dahon Mariner D8 (for 1.5 years) in black. It is the best I have every owned. It is a very comfortable stable quiet agile ride, as good if not better than my full size bike. It comes with mud guards, rack, strap, stand. Brakes and seat are good, and the Dahon gears are smooth and quiet. Well made and folds easily. I can put it in the car no problem and I just leave it folded inside my front door, ready to be used (it came with a Dahon bag which I place over it to keep it clean). I ordered a Dahon Landing Gear, which just bolts on, so I can wheel it around instead of carrying it. Thoroughly recommend this bike.

Dahon Mariner is a great bike and I almost bought one but in my shopping process, I ran into a small brand Solorock with similar quality and feature except it came with disc brakes and a curve upward back on the frame selling roughly at 60% of the price of the Mariner. The Solorock came with identical rear rack and elastic cord as well. I live in Canada, the other reason I did not get the Mariner is Dahon does not sell their bikes here, I'd have to order it from the U.S. and have it shipped over, that translates to extra cost(custom duty) plus the risk of being damaged on the way here.

Love those foldable bikes! I’d like to get one so that I may put one in my car when I want to do a park and ride (explore). I’m interested in one with a belt drive drivetrain. The rationale being maintenance is easier than a conventional chain and cassette drivetrain. If you get a chance to test one out, you have my vote.

I just check their warranty that Dahon requires user to have routine/yearly maintenance performed by Dahon's authorized dealer only. If you do not it will not honor the warranty. What do you think about this? Are you going to have routine maintenance by Dahon dealer? I would say it would cost $100 USD yearly for this maintenance service at dealer which I do want to perform the maintenance by myself. Thanks

Thanks for the video, very informative. I have a Dahon helios xl which is also 20", super comfy to ride on. But for a trip on an airplane I am still thinking of a 16" bike. Your royale is probably nearer to a brompton in design and material (steel?) but the Dahon curl is also made of alloy and therfore lighter. (I can't carry my 20" bike when folded.) If you ever get the chance for testing a curl that would be interesting. I can't find that many reviews of that bike here. Have a safe trip!

I've been riding this bike for about a month kzbin.infoUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
