I continue to think Dahua cameras are a full step below Hikvision. Not sure how the takeaway where said the opposite. Hik is more clear, less distorted. The few Dahua cameras I've used echo'd the same in comparison.

So I have both of these cameras in various deployments. The Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2P-LSU/SL (bro we need shorter names) is really good at covering areas like parking lots and if you mount it up high and rotate it down it's good at covering side yards along deep buildings. That said, its vertical field of view is rather narrow (intentional design decision). Unless someone needs a specific feature like the E-PTZ I'd say pick the camera with the appropriate FOV. The image quality of both is comparable IMO. The Dahua is surprisingly compact for what it is. I also prefer the Dahua mount.

Yes Dahua did a great job on this one, especially with the subsequent updates that added resolutions that were identified and asked for as part of the review. The Dahua mount is 100% the better one as well. While aesthetics of course play a secondary role to the main job of a camera like this, surveillance, they are important in any deployment and the compact size and over layout in this design was very well thought out IMO.

Thank You for your visualization and knowledge. love the form factor of these 180 degree cameras. I actually purchased (6) of the HIKVISION units with a NVR. I had issues with NVR integration with cameras and sought assistance from HIKVISION technical support. They are not interested in talking to owners!! I actually returned the items ( 6 Cameras, NVR, 6TB Surveillance HDD, 6 Camera Mounts, Micro SD Cards, etc...) I could have figured out the issue and worked around it. but they left a terrible impression and I will likely never buy HIKVISION again! I am currently entertaining DAHAU after auditioning a REOLINK TRACKMIX POE unit. Thanks again for sharing!!😎

The UI/setup of Hikvision NVRs is, indeed, horrible. That said, if you buy them rebadged by LTS in the US, the support is pretty decent. Regrettably, with all of the Chinese stuff, the software is way behind the image quality
