As someone who lived there for a short time, cheap food in Japan is insanely cheap. You can have a meal for less than 700 yen. Going to grocery store to get ingredients for a much simpler dish will cost you minimum 600 yen. Unless you are eating frozen food or making super basic meal, saving money by not eating out is really not a thing in most part of Japan. Moreover, a lot of Japanese live in small urban apartment units that are not conducive for cooking.

6:00 In Japanese cities it's 1000x harder because the ramen, fried foods and amazing desserts are everywhere plus they're cheap. In the rural parts it's easy because eating out gets expensive fast and the elderly aunties gift veggies often. Plus all the school kids will make fun of anyone overweight, they're brutal.

Congrats to Daidus. Hopefully I can follow in his footsteps this year and lose some weight myself. At my heaviest, I was just under 240lbs. Within a year and a half, I went down to 190 and thats because of the medication I started, the medicine had nothing to do with weight loss itself like Ozempic, it was just a nice bonus/side effect. But randomly within like 2-3 months, I guess maybe my body stabilized(?) and I went back up to 210 and then to 205 where I've sat for the past year. For me, it's just real tough as I have no control over what food I eat for dinner, I live with my parents and they do all the cooking despite me asking them to teach me and let me cook a few times a week. The rest of the day, it's just kind of make do with what we have on hand and I can throw together real fast because again, can't cook myself. As for fitness, I try to do what I can, mainly walking/running as I just have very minimal equipment and the gyms around here are just too expensive for me. I'm only saying all this because if anyone else has been in a similar boat or has some ideas to help my progress, please let me know. I want to get toned and lose this weight finally.
@Bryan_ZA
@Bryan_ZA 15 күн бұрын
as someone who's lost 55kg (120 lbs) you can try at least control your portion sizes :) I know its hard mentally but basically you can always measure your portions relative to your fist size, you dont have to start counting calories etc. Mike Israetel has a good video explainging this - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZO5fHxvoKZ5isk but cliffnotes are: 1 fist size of protein 1 fist size of carbs try get 1-2 fist sizes of veggies This works because everyone's fist is scaled to the size of their body and also since the meds resulted in your weight loss, going off it will result in regaining weight because you need to adopt new/healthier habits to see healthy results in your body. I believe in you!

heard a tip of drinking a big glass of water at the start of each meal in order to satuate your hunger partly before you start a meal. For the most improvement tho, understanding calories intake is the most important. Jeff nippard is good at explaining it and has loads of videos doing it. Also understanding how little excersize will get you 80% of the way might help as a motivation. Gl bro

Ketchup on mac-n-cheese is good. I also love BBQ sauce on mac-n-cheese. But I typically put those sauces on the type of mac that you make in a big dish in the oven with a layer of cheese on top, with sliced tomato and bacon bits. It's more creamy than it is cheesy, so you can add extra stuff to it as you please. Put extra cheese in there, add sauce, etc.

NGL chicken and broccoli is a GOAT diet, considering i've been doing it since 2020 and i lost almost 60 kg since then (for context i went from 130 kg to 77-80 kg ish in 4 years) and i find it funny that Daidus said "he's too lazy to keep dieting" while for me is the opposite, doing a diet is THE lazy way to eat if i can't be bothered to think what i want to eat. Gotta recognize it only works for me because i live in a country where it's more affordable to cook than to eat outside every day, i cannot fathom how difficult it is to buy groceries in other countries like US and even Japan. Also, mad respect for the gym bros that can do that much exercise AND eat healthy, because i frickin hate going to gyms; if i had more discipline, i'd rather do all my exercise at home WITHOUT doing any weightlifting. Just pure cardio and reps and that's it.

Carrots + zucchini + broccoli, you boil them and once they are tender you blend them together and put some cinnamon in it (you can add a little bit of honey if you want it extra sweet), next you put your roasted chicken breast cooked with worcestershire sauce on the unholy mix and you got yourself a tasty low calorie meal.

I’ve lost 25lbs (that’s all I needed/wanted to lose) I just tracked my calories in my Fitbit app. I also thinks it’s okay to eat little goodies here and there so you aren’t making yourself miserable. Also finding exercise that you can do consistently helps. And if you can eat chicken and broccoli consistently then do it! 😂 Also to comment on Joeys statement that buying groceries in American is expensive. Buying anything in LA is expensive, go to any state east of that away from the ocean and it’s not. It’s very easy to eat healthy.

My biggest pet peeve with chicken and broccoli is the fact that you can achieve the same calorie and nutritional makeup with so many other dishes or meat + vegetables combinations. They might cost a tiny bit more (chicken is usually the cheapest meat globally) but it requires more or less the same effort.

@@alejandroguerra7561have you try egg and tomato. All you need to do is just scramble some egg, chop as much tomato as you want and toss them in together. It a classic Chinese style dish that is easy to make and prep, with roughly 10-30 min max. Stirfry beef with your preferred vegetable like onion, carrot or broccoli is really easy. You just need to add sugar, soy sauce and a source of flavoring like oyster sauce or msg or chicken powder or garlic. If you want something that is even more low effort than fried some egg and eat some pickled vegetable to go along with it. The fattiness of the egg is cut out by the sharp sourness of the pickled vegetable. If you like your chicken than you can pour honey or sugar, soy sauce or any other sauce you can flavor with into a box and let it marinate. Toss it into your fridge and you get atleast a half week full of marinated chicken. It better to experiment and fail than eat the same food 20 time over. One is soul crushing, the other one give you hope that you are improving at cooking.

first, congrats daidus on losing 50 lbs (or 15, not sure which one I heard). Second, every time i hear trash taste talk about health and fitness, its clear that so many people still believe in diet myths. Please, if you are trying to get in shape, you need to understand losing weight does not necessarily mean lose fat (which is what most people's goal is). And you do not need to just eat prison food to achieve your desired goal. Yes, you can still eat bread, rice, pasta, and other carbs. The only reason why people think otherwise is because they can't control how much they eat. If you plan accordingly and know what foods to eat, you can still have plenty of carbs. . . in fact, carbs will probably make up a majority of calories. I can eat like 4 servings of bread + 3 servings of pasta/ rice and still be lean. But i've only earned that b/c I lift. So if you are trying to lose weight, the bare minimum you should do is 1) lift weights (at least 3x per week) and build muscle (this is a must), 2) eat about your body weight in grams of protein per day (150 lb = ~150 of protein) also, the 2k caloric intake per day is a generalization. A good starting point but everyone is different. If you want to know your true "maintenance" calorie, you would need to count it.

You dont gotta go 64.8 Fahrenheit, because the gaps in the scales are so negligible, no one cares. @7792pnaurfr of course there is. Ive had to work with them in a professional setting my whole life. You just dont really see them used outside of a professional setting, which was my point.

As a person from a place that uses the metric system (not like the Brits or Canadians who just pretend to do it so that they can make fun off the US for not using it), we do not use decimals in every day conversations, even in professional settings, we just round it off, just like you do. Daidus himself probably rounded off the original amount, it's unlikely he lost exactly 50 pounds, it was more likely he lost around 50 pounds and he just rounded that off. The reason they show decimals on screen is because Mudan converted Pounds to kg, any conversion between imperial and metric will be in decimals. I weigh 70kg, that is 154.324 pounds, that's a lot of decimals. No one likes decimals, we always round it off, no matter the system you use.

you really think people using the metric system are going, "We are at 20.45 Degrees celsius and the nearest stores is at 22 metres 34cm and 2mm"?

No one does this. You’re arguing with a straw man.
