It's funny you mention Daigo's reactions, @punkdagod. A while back he made a video about his reflexes and getting older. He said that rather than simply succumbing to age and using it as an excuse, he would train his reflexes to "be like Punk"

I'm same age as Daigo. Playing younger players who are really good (that actually finish in top 3's in tournaments) they always talk about my sick reactions. What I do lack is match up knowledge because ever since early 2k I stopped playing fighting games competetivelly. Since I don't really learn characters to the fullest extend I can't keep up with people who do put in the hours. sf4 was doable because most of the cast played like their old counterparts. I've been ass in sf5, hardly ever played it. Mainly because it's too hard as a casual to get good. Why tf do I gotta learn 2 v skills and 2 v triggers and learn those of my opponents as well. SF6 while I don't really play it. I do like it a whole lot more than sf5. Mainly because the game mechanics are back to general systems, and not individual like in 5 with everyone having different triggers and skills. Worst part, even in the training they don't even tell you what your skill or trigger does, smh.

Im starting to think when people get complacent with something as inevitable as age-> The "Don't use it, lose it" effect happens even faster. But with that being said it's good to know if you work smart and hard at it you can greatly improve even while maturing. And at the worst/least maintain what you use to have. Kudos to Daigo and a couple of other ogs for staying up!

I tuned into Daigo's live stream earlier this week and was surprised he was playing Zangief. It's pretty impressive. I think he actually got inspiration coaching one of his teammates Hyakumantenbara Salome during the recent #KZHCUP event (right in the beginning of this video you can see him fight against someone who has a profile title from the event.)

Gief gotta be the most hype character in SF6. Every grab, every super, the way the enemy character gets knocked on they ass from a fully charged heavy punch. No one does it like Gief. Daigo’s patient playstyle really suits Gief too, since he’s so read dependent at high levels.

It's scary because if you jump on Daigo you know he is going to anti-air you 99 times out of 100. But he's not ever jumping so you never get to anti-air him. He's locking you down more and more every time he takes a step forward and your only option is to zone somebody with infinite patience or approach a Gief on the ground
