sensational work me unable to take my eyes of the screen staring intensely like a child watching their first ever magic show I mean hell most channels would make a whole video out of just one of the parts that you restored with impresive eye for detail at that damn my coffee has gone cold ah well thank you for such excellence to sit here and look at this build as you restore it from the ground up its like every mechanics dream to pay this kind of attension to their own car but most end up working on their customers freinds aunties or uncles car while their own languashies in a state of disrepair held together with zip ties truly inspiring and with summer just around the corner I have renewed vigor to finish some unfinished work on my own car :)

@@JohnnyGetsCash Yeah, went a bit silly with that one, custom forged rods, MLS head gasket, Nissan Pulsar turbo pistons, Autronic ECU, 2" lift with Bilstein HD sport shocks, HD torsion bars, Brembo brake components, 31" MTZs on imported American Racing alloys, list goes on. It's been the ultimate off road vehicle, in the 6 years I've had it it's been off the road more than it's been on the road 😂 (snapped crankshaft, massive blow by from bad tune etc). I also had one with a 1JZ turbo swap from a Toyota Soarer but that was a death trap so ended up parting it out. It was fun while I lasted but.

Wow, what an episode Johnny. You really give me the cofidence to keep perservering with my two projects, a 1992 Toyota Soarer V8 ans 1995 Hilux Surf. The Soarer is pretty clean rust wise for a 30 year old car. But the Surf was so rusty undernaeath it looked like it was at the bottom of the sea for years. Can't believe your ball joints were removed so easliy with a few hammer taps. Mine needed drilling out. But what is your secret for not snapping bolts, WD40, heat, prayer ;-) I'm constantely snapping off smaller 10mm headed bolts, always in the most awkward to drill out spots. Lots of blood, sweat, beer and sometimes tears, shed trying to repair rust, replace or refurb worn parts. But you make it look easy, but also seem to be able to work at such a high quality level without the need for all the fancy and super expensive tools. Keep up the good work my man. You're an inspiration to many :-)
@JohnnyGetsCash
@JohnnyGetsCash 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Darren! Your projects sound really interesting. I’ve always had a bit of a hankering for a V8 Soarer! I do snap off the occasional bolt here and there, and, as you say - always in awkward positions!! Generally I clean up and pre-soak with penetrating fluid where possible, but sometimes it’s just out of your control and you just know you’ll be drilling and re-tapping before the end of the day 😂 Thanks very much for your kind words - I really appreciate the support!

@@JohnnyGetsCash Thanks for the reply. I remember reading in one of your newer posts you said you were dropping the music in the time lapse pieces. What would be really cool is for you to add in some more running commentary. I'd be interested in knowing what fluid you used to clean the CV joint grease out with, the process involved in straightening the bash plates, why an angle grinder sometimes, then you switch to a flap wheel when cleabing rust etc. I know it may seem obvious to you as to why you do things a certain way, but you have years of knowledge in this type of work and any little tips or tricks would be grratly recieved by us amatures. And you don't need to give away all your secrets.

@@darrenliggett7222 thanks Darren. The music is a bit of a contentious issue. Perhaps I should drop it apart from in the silent Timelapse segments? I could definitely add in more commentary/ info but I worry my constant droning would become annoying to you guys!

Well that explains why i cant get any parts for mine... You bought up the last of the old stock from Milner 😅 Well least i got the last Radiator before you or i'd be jiggered 😜 Good luck for a fuel tank if yours is shot, been looking for months now! Think i'll have to bite the bullet and either fab one or get a marine Poly tank. Already measured up and a 70L 'off the shelf' will fit and would only need hangers fabricated also under 200 notes inc a universal fuel sender. 👍

Ha, yeh sorry if I’ve added to the scarcity of parts during the course of this project! Tbf I’ve had difficulty finding a lot of parts and have had to shop around, even sourcing some parts from Daihatsu in Japan! I got very lucky with my fuel tank - although a bit crusty looking, it was totally solid and leak free, so as you’ll see in ep5, I got away with de-scaling, rust converter and a healthy coat of Gravitex!
