Couple questions please 🙏 What mix for the paint in an airbrush system? What about nozzle size? Could I use one of the airbrush kits that includes the small compressor aswell ?? Been really keen to give this a go for a while and not much out there surprisingly Thanks in advance

That looks absolutely spotless I'm well impressed. Just out of interest, would high build primer work just as well on a repair like this?

this is just stupid, quick fix and hope they dont look properly when selling, in no way should you do this on your own vehicle

Great video, having been involved with paintwork/bodyshop work, my only concern without primer over the filler it will suck the paint and there will be the filler patch visible after 6-12months particularly in black where it gets hot in the sun.

great job i wonder how this would work on plastic panels?

Great video. I have just repaired holes drilled in my p38 body for the light guards using the same approach (but welded the holes first). You can still see the colour difference as it’s new paint versus 25 year old paint but other than that it’s worked well.

So you own a paint booth, with air extraction, paint mixing kit and all the rest of the gubbins, plus 30 odd years experiance, good for you. I do think however you are entirely missing the point of this video.

This is an amazing result as these types of repairs can stand out a mile on a big panel like this! ❓Quick question ❓what lacquer do you use with the airbrush? Is it a hardener kind of setup or an all in one? Cheers for sharing this method, youve taught me a lot from your content 😊👍🏻
@JohnnyGetsCash5 күн бұрын
I’m glad to hear my content is helping you out! I have used 1K clear coat in the past but have found it to be a little soft (although it can be used to great effect), but in this instance I used a 2K clear (so clear coat plus hardener) 👍

What compound and polish do you use? Love the vids where you show in depth how to do these things, keep up the good work
@JohnnyGetsCash5 күн бұрын
I use 3M fast cut compound (link in description if you want some), and generally I use turtle wax hard shell polish after a cut like I did here 👍

No doubt in my mind, the old tried and tested methods work, a totally invisible repair, well done. I hope many other dealers, or even private owners, who don't have access to a spray booth, and other professional equipment, have the gonads to try this ! Once again you have excelled Johnny boy, a very professional result.

Great video. I have a repair to do on my clearcoat. Does it matter that I don’t have a machine polisher? Would a pad used in a cordless drill be an improvement on elbow grease?

Does the heat gun usage prevent orange peel? Others have said to put the paint can in warm water for a bit before painting to avoid orange peel. Thoughts?

Just an additional tip, heat the area as you say prior to top coat AND heat your topcoat rattlecan in an oven to 100C it'll spray so much much better. In fact I'd advise this for ANY rattlecan - primer - paint - laquer - topcoat. It just flows so much better.
@brianhart64102 күн бұрын
Cans in hot water 40c better I think they might explode at 100C in an oven

I love this kind of advice and videos, small areas of bodywork that need attention before the problem gets worse. No messing, no stupid music and no bullsh!t - many thanks.

Don't heat up the plastics with a heat gun it might work a couple of times but it pulls all the oils and destroys it

How long did it take you to sell each vehicle though mate? I've been doing it years and it's not so simple like at the min the 2nd hand car market is on its arse

I did this yesterday to a 2005 Ford Ranger. The bumper had turned grey and the heat gun did a fantastic job of bringing back the black. Thanks for this.

I have an 05 WRX in that same colour - after several months of ownership, I love it! As you say, it's a great daily car for many reasons. Wondering what tires you're recommending for it? I have the original 17 inch wheels on mine - different pair of tires on the front and back and I'm wanting to get that sorted!
