Great car! Most people don't really need more than this. I like the Subaru Libero or E-Series even better. Because it has a huge sunroof that opens, and 4wd.

A fantastic little vehicle and the older models still much sought after if in good condition! although a lot have had hard lives and the good ones are now quite rare! These things are very like the "Lada Niva," in so much as those who always condemn them out of hand, more often than not know nothing about them and usually have never driven or even owned them! The Hijet was the very first really small vehicle I'd ever owned, but once used to its ways, I just simply loved it and could quite happily travel the length and breadth of the country in it! Only down side is that if you do your own mechanics then beware! you do need dolls hands and a watchmakers tool kit to attempt any spanner work whatsoever!! but it's worth it!!

+jiggermast this is my dream van, really struggling to find the mpv version, have looked into converting a van but without the seat bolt holes from the factory the MOT people don't allow it. Love the double sunroofs! Also looks like taking out the middle row of seats would give you a van and a car, among all the other millions of permutations this van offers. Glad you enjoyed yours, and yes I have little hands. (no mechanical knowledge though, hopefully I'll figure it out when I find my van..)

Daniel Adderley Nice to know others still appreciate them too, we're a fast disappearing breed! I'm currently running a 998cc six seater, but always take the 2 rearmost seats out, it's easier to carry stuff that way! The sunroofs leak and I need to blast the outside of the radiator clear of mud and stuff, which is causing it to overheat a little at the moment, but what a great little bus they really are! It'll cruise all day at 70 and by removing all 4 of the rear seats I've just carried a H1 Kawasaki 500 the full length of the country in it, so there's tons of room in 'em!

Fantastic. I just got mine, blue mpv 1.3, great fun! So many possibilities... It's a 1999 model in fantastic condition, £800 which I think was a good price.

Daniel Adderley Sounds a great deal!, keep an eye on the temps, my old one (like most others) used to overheat occasionally, but I'm sure you're more than aware of that problem with the 1300's. I hope you like public attention! you'll get plenty of it while driving around in the six seater roller skate! By the way, 3 point turns don't exist, on most roads you can U turn it in one lock!

Yes I love the turning circle.. Very fun. Wouldn't mind a bit of power steering, was wondering to myself whether you could add something to the column.. Seems a shame to take out the back seats since they fold up so nicely. I'd be tempted to take out the middle seats if any, though currently it's quite nice having them all. The roof is a bit rotten from leaking sunroofs but otherwise fairly mint all over. Amusingly this afternoon I met someone with the same van, we compared.. Same colour and everything. They'd taken it camping to Greece and Italy before starting a family (no doubt also in the van-) Just need a rooftack and I'll be set. Temp gage is behaving, and doesn't look like any works been done on head gaskets etc and it's holding it's water. I barely know anything about cars but am ready to learn if it keeps this thing going. Very bouncy on speed bumps..!

Yeah but something like this is unlikely to be too close behind another car because it's slow. Also, with a motor like this you just automatically adapt. It also has excellent visibility, a very underrated safety feature and being a cab over, you weirdly have a few feet extra stopping distance over a car with snout (so long as you maintain the same stopping distance). I appreciate it doesn't help if you have a side impact, which is the real danger in this kind of vehicle but there you are.
