On board one E appeared to have Kx in clubs. I led low to spade Q at trick 2. That way if both spade and diamond finesses losing, I can make game and still try the diamond finesse safely later when E out of clubs. I didn’t see the double spade finesse, but until W discards clubs, it’s too dangerous.

Good results today, WWDLW. B1, I attacked Ds right away, they cleared the clubs, but on the third club E was stuck and ended up discarding the H9, so I got a fourth heart. B2, I won the CJ and led the DJ, covered; I took the A and K; when the 10 didn't drop I led a club. W returned a heart, and when E took the ace it cashed the D10, which let me get an extra diamond trick. B3, same as everyone B4, I didn't think my hand was worth forcing to game, so no love there. B5, I made a responsive double on my second turn, and against 5Dx N led the CA and switched to a spade, so we got our spade trick along with two clubs. I'm always happy to get good a good board against Stefan, he seems to beat me more than most of the other experts.

A good set for me today - WDDDW #1 - made the overtrick. Club lead was away from QTxxx and I put in the 9 which forced out the king. After losing the diamond finesse east continued clubs - and west ducked it round to my jack, so I can cash out and end-play east with the 4th heart - they can take their diamond but then have to lead away from the spade king, so I pick up the 10 and get 3 spade tricks. #3 - I opened 1H (ACOL+weak-NT) - if partner wasn't a robot I think they'd have fallen off their chair. Did well to stay out of the slam given that it doesn't play well from south. Their Jacoby 2NT good raise meant we could actually have played 6NT the right way round though! #5 - I opened a weak NT in 3rd seat and didn't feel strong enough to super-accept the transfer to spades despite having 4. Was worried I'd missed a cold 4S.

I shared your fate on B5! 🙃 I keep bidding shaky slams because I figure you'll be there! I tried to make B3 on the spade finesse, but went down two as a result for a bottom.

#1 Made an overtrick. Knocked out KS first opportunity. Then E gets squeezed in H and D eventually. #2 Draw, more or less identical line of play. #3 I superaccepted and partner drove to slam, -1. It's actually not terrible. I know superaccepting is dubious with 4333. But I figured Stefan would be there for sure so I didn't go all out to make, ducking the C lead. #4 Draw, many players underbid with 3H though instead of bidding/trying for game. #5 Draw, infuriating. Partner needs to switch to S when in with C and then we beat it.
