Another idea. Can I beat Martin with guesses? Normal setup, but when it's your turn, you decide your next two moves (rather than 1, of course). If the second move becomes illegal, you just plan two moves starting there

Tried and did it first try! I'm only 1300 so he'd probably need to plan 3 moves Wasn't too hard but a bit sketch, lost my queen to an unexpected pawn move and failed my mate with 2 rooks so I had to march pawns to make two queens to make it easier =p (was definitely totally doable with two rooks just got a bit reckless lol) It's interesting how early on the scary thing is how many attacks there are so you need to make attacking moves with a safe waiting move first so you can play around the possible answer, but later one the freedom of movement becomes a problem cause if you plan to attack on move 2 the piece is much more likely to have moved (especially since there are fewer pieces so each individual piece is more likely to move)

My guess for the programming is that he basically gets a selection of valid moves and how good each is, then essentially rolls a die that's heavily weighted towards worse moves, that way he's constantly doing bad moves but can still do good moves

Anyway, I like the long videos. I want you when I’m eating a meal or getting ready for work in the morning so the longer the better. That 1h+ pawns vs Magnus video was so well done, sorry to hear you were getting sick of it by the end :( I also want to say that I like when you add the analysis, it makes it longer and I find I can get more out of a gave if I watch you explain why you did or didn’t do a move in comparison to the engines suggestions. Keep up the hard work.

At 7:23, I would have tried Rb3. Rxb3 is an instant draw by stalemate and while there is a chance Martin takes that anyway, perhaps it is programmed to realize that it has winning chances. In either case, better than walking into checkmate.
