Hi Felixia Thanks for sharing your information on Maintenance cleaning your saws air compressor it’s a great idea i do the same thing. My friends see me doing that and laugh at me I suppose that’s why my saws always run at their best. I have just purchased 500i and very happy 😊 with this new saw . Good to see you back again! I'm always impressed with how well you know your equipment. If you only use small two strokes occasionally it really is worth buying Stihl long life fuel and premium two stroke oil. Regular pump gas breaks down and varnishes small engines. Bad fuel makes more saws end up in yard sales than anything else. Then the guys who buy them spend half an hour on the bench and get yet another cheap saw with barely more than break in hours on it.

Thank you for your helpful videos! I feel much more comfortable using and maintaining my chainsaw because of your videos. I don't have an air compressor so I use a brush but it doesn't do as good a job and it takes longer. If I used my saw everyday I'd get one. I only use my saw on weekends or when I get a day off.

Thanks for that. My 500 has a bent inner plate that seems to allow more oil around the inner area. This clogs up with the dust and blocks the oiler holes on the bar.

Awesome video thanks for sharing! There are many videos if you search 500i air filter problems apparently dust can get past underneath the plastic knob that removes air filter and then goes into engine. I ordered upgraded airfilter from egan performance saws for my 500i i just bought today!

G'day FLJ, do you have to bore cut in those trees ? I like to run a piece of hack saw blade with the sides of the teeth ground off down the bar groove from the sprocket nose down to clean right in there and a few drops of oil when reassembling the bar and chain so it's already lubricated instead of being dry and waiting for the pump to send it out 👍🇦🇺.

Hello Felixia...always great to see your video! In the Northeast US, i don't see any of the new hexa filing. Questions: I have always round filed and want to experiment with chisel filing. Does the hexa file chain perform similar? Or is a hexa filed chain suited better just for felling? I cut primarily hickory and chestnut oak. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Curious as to why one of the dogs are missing from your 500I. Also, I notice that you are using the original air filter that came with the Stihl, why haven't you replaced it as so many others have on this saw? Have you had any modifications done and if yes why? Your comments would be much appreciated.

How often do you grease the clutch drum bearing? What do you think of Stihl's fuel and oil caps? I much prefer the older style. The new ones let debris in when you open them.
@happycamper63522 жыл бұрын
I know you're not asking me, but I'll reply anyway. We don't ever grease anything on the saws despite using them for hours every day for years. Maybe the service store does when we have them looked at once a year in January, but I'm not sure what all they do. Even that's probably a waste of money because they come back with a clean bill of health most of the time. Somehow they don't seem any worse for wear. They just keep cutting. Maybe I'm tempting fate. Who knows.

Agree basically with most of what you said in the video. However, having been a mechanic for well over 30yrs I can tell you & all your followers unequivocally that you should “NEVER EVER” clean or blow out any form of air filter element with compressed air. It will damaged the filter medium, allowing larger particles thru than OEM specifications & you’ll find that you end up with what’s basically a “dusted” powerhead. The cylinder bore & piston will end up looking like they’ve been attacked with a sand blaster. Tap the dust out onto a firm surface sure, but compressed air is a no go!!
