I knew the 500i were fuel injected but I did not realise it had OBD plug in capability as shown here and the self tuning is next level . I'm impressed with the saw and doubly impressed with Rip Saw and what they're doing , hats off guys , I wish you all success .

I do this to every 500i that comes through my shop. It is essential to recalibrate if you make any major changes to it. Learned that the hard way. ie. brand new top end toasted on first start up. Had to eat that one for the customer. 😮

100% agree about finding the right dealer. I didn't choose my saw. I went to 5 different saw shops in the area I lived in (within an hour or so drive) and talked to them. Picked brains for more information than I can repeat. I ended up with the 461 with no mtronic or any of those extra special electronics. It wasn't the saw nor the dealer, but the mechanic that I chose to work with. The husqvarna dealer in the same town was only contented about selling me a saw. I knew nothing about dolmar but the only shop in the area that carried them were a bit pushy and very brand specific even though they carried stihl. They just kept pushing for domar. And the other two shops just didn't have much of a selection and were more of just a repair shop with a handful of saws. I wish I could find a place here like the one I ended up dealing with there.

I hear some people say the Dolmar or Makita's are finicky to tune and get right so you made a wise decision!
@maddawgnoll11 ай бұрын
@joeysweet9045 Being in a logging area, conversing with many of the Sierra Pacific higher-ups and Red Emerson himself. I looked at what they were using. Never saw nor heard of anyone running dolmar there. Mostly stihls, but I was definitely a husqvarna man at that time. I run both, though, and would never say either one was or is a bad choice. I do prefer my stihls, but I feel husqvarna makes a beefier (for lack of a better word) saw. Stihl has power to weight but feels more delicate, and husqvarna runs excellent in the heavy duty brush. How I feel about them anyway.

20 years ago, did anyone honestly think there'd be a day that a power saw was getting tuned on a computer?
@mendonesiac11 ай бұрын
Honestly, I thought it would only be for emissions, not to make the saws run better
@Barnbuiltracing29 ай бұрын
They aren’t getting tuned, you cannot change set parameters like dwell time in the injector or coil, target AFR, hold times or offsets. Basically the computer is for diagnostic purposes and to put it in reset mode. They are cool regardless but if they could be tuned more power could be had. Even if you could do something as simple as raise peak rev limiter.

@whitebridge48495 ай бұрын
Not true. The saw Egan posted wasn’t from rip saw. Only a fool would believe one saw porter talking poorly about another. Says more about Egan as a person than it does rip saw. Mitchell’s backyard logging compared a ripsaw 500 to Aaron lynches and they were the exact same.

Imho 572xp excellent felling / bucking saw … 462c excellent firewood saw but both can be used vice versa - can’t go wrong with either! I’d say if you use primarily a 20” bar the 34mm stroke 462c will outcut the 572xp 39mm stroke given the same amount of work by the same builder by a noticeable amount. Put a Buckin special Piper on it and it’ll be good nite Irene for the competition !

But these are high compression lipstick 💄 port jobs. You're such a phony & a suck-up. Why aren't you running you gums now!? All Ripsaws have base & band cut. Which by your own words kill saws and your hack job no machine work ported saws will run circles. Such a lame!
@davidcharlemagne678511 ай бұрын
What’s your distinction between a felling/bucking saw and a firewood saw? Because my 400 is my “firewood” saw but all I do is fell and buck lol. Just curious
@fabzacres-blackcat11 ай бұрын
@@davidcharlemagne6785 I own both saws and that’s been my experience - either saw could be used for felling bucking or firewood without missing a beat. The difference is in one scenario you are production cutting vs more precision work. I find the 572ps’ handling / ergonomics/ powerband superior to the 462 in a tree felling situation and conversely the 462c makes quicker work on the landing where volume of wood produced is desirable.

It's great rip saw is so busy. But the wait 16 to 20 weeks is so long. That's almost a 1/2 a year. I hope they figure out something so they can make the process be faster. I just can't see waiting that long for a saw . So now I do have saws from them. But that was when they were a lot smaller. And I got the saw within 2 weeks. But I'm happy they're doing good. They have beautiful, amazing saws that's the truth.

I guess they need to make sure businesses keep going at the current busy pace. Last thing you'd want to do is hire a new person to speed things up and suddenly orders dry out a bit.
