The trust that your birds have for you is insane! My canary is really anxious, she stopped panicking when I walk next to her cage so I think she recognizes me as her guardian, but she still doesn't trust me. The fact that your birds drink from your hand is amazing

So gorgeous! Loved the little sun drawings for the start and end of the day :) Interesting that you take their food out during the night! I guess it works for you because you actually get up before your birds - ours get up before us, so we keep their food in their cage so they don't get hungry during the morning.

Hahaha yess I was unable to beautifully capture the sunset, so had to be creative 😂 Yess! In the beginning I didn't take their food out, but I felt like I needed to wash the plastic waterbowls daily (it got a little slimey fast) 😅 That's smart! 💛 they won't wake you from hunger 😂

Hello .please I have a question..what is the reason for female canary not laying eggs after mating for more than 2 weeks...the male was new to her but she was ready ..now she sit most time in the nest but no eggs how to solve this issue and why.thank you so much ..
@LemonBirbs2 жыл бұрын
I am not a breeder, so I can be wrong. How long has she been sitting on her finished nest? Sometimes it can take a few days before she starts laying, but she could also be egg bound. And what season is it with you? If it's winter then I wouldn't breed with them until spring/summer arrives

What do you do when the eggs hatch? It must be exciting! I'm due to get three canaris soo, one make and two females, about a year old. I want to do a good job. XXB
@LemonBirbs3 жыл бұрын
We replace the eggs with fake eggs as we don't want to breed 😄 But if you do want breed with them, you can leave the the eggs in the nest and check every once in a while 😄 The eggs will hatch after 14 days. After they have hatched it's important to check if the parents feed the juvenile canaries 💛 withing 3 to 4 weeks the juveniles will be independend already 😄

Your videos helped me so much, thank you :) I got corbo for the bottom of the cage, but now I dont know how to spot clean it without throwing a lot of it out as I'm cleaning.. How do you spot clean?
@LemonBirbs8 ай бұрын
Hii! So sorry for my late reply 🙈 I had the same issue with the corbo, I tried spot cleaning but ended up just cleaning the entire bottom (poops were also quite difficult to see sometimes) 😂 and I also had the problem of finding dangerous pieces of plastic and other trash in the bags 😓 so I actually use a different bottom liner now (since this year) 😂 I'm now using discovery bedding (coconut bark/fibers from the brand Back Zoo Nature) and throw some local bought safe flowers and herbs on it 😄 it smells great, looks natural, absorbs water and I can see the poops clearly on the dark brown bottom (and I can just pick up pieces of it to spot clean easier)!

I just checked that turtle vines does have high oxalate content and is not safe to be fed a lot, I think it's still better to switch to another plant
@LemonBirbs Жыл бұрын
Oxalic acids (oxalates) is a naturally occuring compound in a lot of other leafy greens/vegetables (and even in seeds) as well. Oxalic acids will only supress the absorption of calcium from food that contains oxalic acid. Just as an example, spinach contains both oxalic acid and calium. The oxalic acid binds with the calcium and will block its absorption (for the spinach leaf only). However, the oxalic acid of this spinach does not block the absorption of calcium in other foods even when eaten in the same meal. Calcium comes from multiple sources (like cuttlefish bone, some vegetables or supplements) and of you provide other sources, there is no harm. Most of the oxalic acid containing foods have other great nutritional value that it is good to still have them in the diet. It's very important that the animal gets a well varied diet then the oxalates in some food won't do harm 😄 But of course everything in their entire diet must be well balanced.
