I can remember hanging by arms and especially upside down as a child and my kids love it too. Don’t recall when we stopped but the desire remains. Thanks for the snow vid 😃👌🏽

This was an excellent tutorial. I can’t wait to put up some rings. I love that you keep your tutorials short and authentic. Awesome.

this looks awesome, but can you talk a little bit about how to warm up the shoulders before jumping in this? thank you

Perfect suggestion! And it is also very pleasant feeling to just hang around! How long do you do each movement approximately? Just as an improvisation reference. A big hug from Athens (Greece), Yiannis

Can you say more about your shoulder injury? I've had an impingement issue for years...I'm also wondering what your thoughts are on a passive vs. active hang? I feel like the active hang puts less stress on my shoulders. Thanks for the video!

Can someone who had chronic instability in a shoulder do these hangs? I’m deeply afraid that hanging will pop the shoulder out.
@gymfreeathletes34384 жыл бұрын
I've dislocated my shoulder like 50 times... I'd say take it VERY slow, never do anything that feels unstable on the shoulder, But hanging was the number one thing that helped stabilize my shoulder.

@@gymfreeathletes3438 how have you managed to get it secure again? Have you had surgery? I am just terrified to place my arm above my hesd

@@CN-re5ut No Surger, That's me in the video so yes, Secure :). It took me some time but if you are smart about it you can do it. This exercise was a game changer for me kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6HZdZSOlLmMmLM

I think if you have shoulder instability as opposed to shoulder tightness(and pain that may stem from that) then you really should prioritize active hanging over passive at this point (search for 'active hang'). And also, do scapular pull ups & scapular push ups. But imo passive hangs in moderation should be fine also, just listen to you body and avoin any pain. And like the video said, you can do them with feet on the ground thus lowering the load on the shoulders until they're sturdier.

Basically, passive means hanging with your shoulders completely relaxed and by your ears(so passively hanging on your ligaments and stretching them - which is generally a good thing but probably not right now in your case). And active means hanging with the shoulders pressed down and back(a little bit) therefore supporting yourself with the strength of your scapula(shoulder blade) muscles. Elbows locked out in either variation.
