This hits me so hard. I got injured in the military Almost 8 years ago. I turned to power lifting to strengthen my muscles thinking it would do the same. This of course made everything stiff. I had to leave the military and become an occupational therapist to figure out how to fix my body because everybody I went to seemed not to care. I love that your injury has resulted in the education of so many others. Good shit you two 👏

@@kamel2258 Actually doing a lot better. Thanks for asking. I'm concentrating on rear delt, serratus and rotator cuff strengthening and things are much better. Also I learned that I had been holding stress in that area which was contributing to my pain. Strangely enough, cold tub exposure and deep breathing exercises (see Wif Hof) have both been life changing in helping to dissipate pain and stress in that area.

For anyone considering getting surgery I had one after many repeated dislocations I can't even keep count on my left shoulder from surfing. After a couple years it got really bad so I got surgery, and then maybe less than a year I dislocated it again. Maybe I didn't rehab or wait as long as I should've before I went back into sports, but the surgery in a way make me feel better and confident. If you do opt for surgery just know It can happen again so I recommend you do these exercises to maximize shoulder strength and mobility. 15 years later with a bad left shoulder, I now managed to dislocate my right shoulder snowboarding. I know have 2 dislocated shoulders and feel down knowing I'm limited doing the things I love to do surfing, snowboarding, or anything with my arms. I am now on my journey to change my lifestyle for the better and take this as a challenge to overcome and one day help anyone feeling down and out with this injury. I have a daughter and another on the way so I need to be a strong dad, role model and show her never to give up. Good luck to you all in this journey!

@@zrinka14 Checked out a shoulder specialist and he said my left shoulder is definitely worse but recommended I do Physical Therapy for a couple of months first. He said he's seen people with way worse problems where they need immediate surgery. Ive been working out looking at all types of shoulder exercises to attack all muscles surrounding my shoulder. I made a promise to myself to work out at least 5-6 times even if its just running. I surf a lot so I want to strengthen my shoulders and mobility before I fully go back. I rather be careful and patient now because rushing back into sports one makes it worse. Patience, motivation and consistency is key to coming back stronger . Good luck I will try to keep in touch on here and update my progress when I can. Good luck to any one with this problem, its not easy but don't let this stop you! Adapt and overcome!

The story of going from "authorities" to taking things into your own hands, being a scientist of your own body, is so essential to a true path to health. I dislocated my shoulder back in 2007 doing Judo in college. Did rehab but it didn't help much. The dislocations continued for 10 years until I met an old Judoka friend who is now an Orthopedic Surgeon. He did surgery on it and gave me a lot of exercises after. He even told me not to rush things as it may aggravate it. After months of rehab, he told me to do yoga. Lots of downward dog and childs pose actually helped my shoulder strength. I guess I'm lucky because my doctor understands Judo related injuries.

@matthiashepworth6583 Жыл бұрын
@@jayashreejena196 Yes. You'll have to go through the boring rehab with stretch bands though. Search 'rotator cuff rehab' for the exercises. Standard stuff, light bands and high reps daily, once 3 sets of 10-15 then increase the band 'colour'. I did both arms at the same time, therefore each side got a rest between sets. Very tedious... Ease off any heavy/vulnerable movements until settled in. Cod liver oil and glucosamine both helped. Usual dietary advice. 5 years later and I still haven't done single arm hangs. I'm happy to climb ladders, ropes etc. now. I also did static holds i.e. resting on a desk for about a minute to strengthen without straining. You'll get there but it's a tedious journey.

I had frozen shoulder for years and it hinder me from doing a lot of basic daily activities. The sports trainers at the local college where I was coaching football were not helpful at all. They told me that I would need to see a doctor because it was so bad. I did not want surgery so I completely avoided the doctor and by chance I helped myself and made big improvements in my mobility and strength by doing some unconventional exercises. I am not an expert and it was all by chance that I was able to make so much progress on my own. I can completely relate to your experiences. Thanks for sharing your story. Hey Trevor, glad to see you are doing fine after so many dislocations and it amazes me how far you have come with yor stability and ROM, i have had my own share of shoulder instability troubles after i subluxed (if thats the right term here) my shoulder nearly 3 years ago. I wouldn't say mine is as bad as yours was but i still have a lot of instability in the rear part of my shoulder and i am pretty much avoiding any overhead tricep exercises because i am sure that if i don't, its just a matter of time when it will happen again. Anyway to get to the point, I find it hard to believe that you've been doing these exercises from the very beginning if your shoulder was that f'ed up, because when i try to do them i am nowhere close to actually being able to do it. I am not talking particularly about hanging and the rubber band exercises but other exercises that you posted on your channel like standing with your feet up against the wall (or even the ones in this video like crab walk and bear walk) and all other very challenging exercises. So long story short is, can you tell me/us which exercises have you done at the very beginning of your journey and whats the best way to progress to where you are right now. Best regards

holy shit, so happy to find this video. a few years ago i got in a decently bad skiing accident that was my first ever shoulder dislocation, and i never ended up seeing a formal doctor or getting evaluated for it as the adults at the time didnt think it was needed beyond the vague bottom of the mountain visit and not using it for about a week. as a result, i know i was concussed for sure and definitely messed up a few of the muscles themselves, but we never did figure out what specifically. since then, despite being very low athletic activity, ive experienced it shifting out of its socket even for just reaching certain ways. as of about a month or two ago, ive been seriously putting in effort to gain weight and build muscle and strength, specifically i really want to be able to do a pull up, but every exercise i do is not only a feat of figuring out proper form and what weight i should be using but also constantly mentally checking how my shoulder is and what the risk of dislocation or re injury might be. ill be seeing a sports medicine specialist in a week or so to figure out exactly what is wrong and what i can do for it, but hearing that this is something that others have experienced with shoulder injury and that there are not only things i can do on my own to improve it but also that it is not necessarily going to limit my ability to build strength is very motivating. apologies for the long, rambling comment, but thank you! being new to fitness and wanting to build strength is very overwhelming, and its been very stressful trying to navigate that as well as figure out a vague injury i had before i ever really tried to improve my athletic ability. im late to the video, but thank you once again for this.

All I have to say is thank you. I did one stretch after realizing my neck and trap muscle tightness was stemmed from my shoulder. I remember feeling like i couldnt even move my shoulder about three years ago in the car and since then and hitting the weight room for three years i have been in so much pain, so much to the point i became numb to it. I went to many pts, doctors, and massage places and nothing worked at all, let alone even diagnosed it. I figured it out today where it all is stemming from and i tried one stretch without a band”just pretending there is one” and it was amazing. My voice literally dropped two octaves afterwards. I havent even finished the video yet but I had to just say thank you. Hopefully i can finally get this under control since I literally just found out about it.

I’m a Marine, boxer, and rugby player. I’ve dislocated my left shoulder twice over the past 5 years, and my right shoulder as many as 3 times in one single rugby game. The right shoulder is always fighting with me to stay in its socket. I can’t throw right hooks anymore because my shoulder will pop out once it makes contact. It’s so bad that I can’t even throw baseballs without feeling the pain and muscle tension in my right shoulder. I’ve been working on the normal bands and using my pull-up bar to place my shoulder in different positions over my head because that’s where it’s weakest, but it still has poor movement. I feel like I’ve been sidelined from doing all the things I love. I’m going to start working on many of the things you mention in this video to get better rotator strength and movement like the horizontal band and active and passive hangs. I really hope it works. Thanks for the info, God bless you man!

I went to physio, and many doctor appointments but it never worked. I went through a huge depression and thought i would be done lifting weights for the rest of my life. I finally figured out how to fix it by proper stretching and am now back at the gym healthier than ever. No pain whats so ever. I would love to talk about it if you need someone to interview! crazy annoying experience

@@rokometer8 It just sucked not being able to do the one thing you love. I would only go to the gym for leg day and abs just to stay active and be in the workout environment still. I also went to the gym to stretch inside an empty room just to get out of the house. It sucked not being able to do the thing you love but i wouldnt give up on my stretches and covid basically saved my life. The lockdown allowed me to focus more on the correct flossing exercise along with stretches. As of today, i am fully 100% again after 4 years of pain and depression

Thanks so much for this man. Yesterday I dislocated my shoulder for the 6th time. I used to be a dedicated martial artist with aspirations to become an MMA fighter. I gave up on it a few months ago because I dislocated from just punching a bag. I've been at the point recently where I feel like I've been losing confidence because I know if I got in a fight, I'd probably dislocate it regardless of whether I win or not. This gives me hope of not having to feel like a cripple anymore

Man, this is just what I’ve needed all these years. 28 years ago I broke my right clavicle in a rollerblading accident, and 4 years ago I took a bad fall and suffered grade 3 separation of my left shoulder. My clavicle never really healed right and I’ve ended up with impingement and pretty much constant pain for the last 15 years or so due to the nature of my work. I turn 47 next week and I’ve recently started my calisthenics journey to try to loose some weight and get back in shape. I fear my injuries will hold me back when I’m ready to start more advanced exercises. I’ll definitely be incorporating some of these into my warm ups and off days to help rebuild the joint support I so desperately need.

Tore my rotatorcuff mountain biking 12 years ago, broke my shoulder in a vehicle accident 9 years ago, tore my rotatorcuff 3 months ago mountain biking. I find while grabbing onto something while pushing in (close grip bench press movement), then twisting the wrist really helps build the muscles, tendons. Along with eating healthy, taking the supplement 'glucosamine sulphate'. I find your videos to be straight to the point, well informative, and really down to earth which is more relatable than listening to a Dr. on KZbin. Thanks bra!

@@MizRuthie I can allmost get a good night's sleep on the side of my shoulder injury. At the same time, it's all about rehabilitation, eating healthy, and taking the supplement 'glucosamine sulphate'. When I broke my shoulder after a vehicle accident, it took that injury 3 years til I couldn't feel the slightest bit if discomfort (while bench pressing). This time around, I'm definitely concentrating on rehabilitation. The band idea in this video is one of the better things to do for shoulder rehabilitation, to build raw strength

This video is amazing! I dislocated my shoulder last Christmas Eve, and as of May I can hang again, do the bridge, cartwheel, play sport and trust in my shoulder again. My best advice is to listen to your physical therapist and slowly work your way back up. Make sure to build the bulk of muscle around your shoulder before you start using it normally again. Once you get discharged from physical therapy you can work your way back up to where you were before and build even further. By the way I’m a 17 year old male. God is amazing 🙏

Since then I train my shoulders as much as I can doing all kinds of exercises from rehab I done but it was the first time for me to see the one with the band you have shown thank you. Also started bridges last year, they used to be very challenging and painful in the shoulder area but now it is tons better. I suspect some muscles were way to weak in the beginning. Still feel some instabilities but no dislocations so far. I hang from the bar or do some chin ups. Pull ups are still a challenge for me but will try the band drills you have shown. My goal this year is to learn crow pose and maybe hand stand too. Thanks a lot for making amazing content.

Super similar story. From 17-33 I've had two surgeries early on, didn't rehab it barely at all. Didn't dislocate for 3-4 years made me think I was all good, since then it's dislocated 3x while I was asleep, 4x changing my shirt, 3-4x turning my steering wheel etc. All in all best guess it's gone out fully 20-30 times and partially countless times. My arms spent so much time in a sling my wrist and forearm are visibly smaller on that arm. Playing softball this summer it went out in public for I hope the last time I can't take it anymore. I'm trying to find my own resources to try addressing it on my own before I give in and have one more surgery

Nice physique! & you're young. 57 y.o., 7 dislocations since 32. Just had labrum surgery as even stretching or pointing to something put it out in the end. Any of these exercises would put me in the ER. Dr. showed pictures that my labrum was completely separated, cushion had completely degraded, 360° dislocations as they checked me out under anesthesia. So I didn't really have an option. They pulled in tissue from around my shoulder as cushion, and stitched me up real tight. Start rehab in 1 week 🤞

Another excellent video on your journey, guys. It’s all about the mechanics,no matter how you look at this, and in many cases it can be realised only when you go through the injury (whether it’s mental or physical) and learn from it. Unfortunately, speaking about Ireland, there are so many physiotherapists out here, but their knowledge is incredibly poor. So many people have been left without a proper treatment and rehab almost forever. Hanging is a part of my life. I think, having the bar to hang off must be a mandatory thing for everyone ;)!
