This is another excellent workout. Thank you so very much. A year ago I was Mezzo but in the 12 months that have passed, my voice has gradually become in the soprano range, and with your help it is stretching all the time. I had a weak low register for some time but practiced singing and vocalizing in the lower ranges, some much lower, which I heard helps towards singing higher in head voice. Please correct me if I am wrong. Many thanks.

Like so many things it's about *how we do something that helps or doesn't. The thing with singing lower, in my opinion, is about learning good vowel balance and good overall singing principles. Having done that, the upper register of the voice is far less daunting a prospect. Best, Jeff

If I can not sing the high note, what should I do? Keep practicing until I can reach the note?
@JeffRolka7 жыл бұрын
Be patient, and perhaps just leave that one key out. Alternately, you could try quickly switching to a lip trill for the keys that go to the high note. That would be a good way to begin the process of working it into your usable range. Best! Jeff

@@daniellegibson375 Actually, working on the lower register notes often strengthens the high notes, whilst at the same time the lower notes are likewise strengthening.

Jeff, just for interest, what is the top note in this warm up please?
@JeffRolka4 жыл бұрын
Off the top of my head, I'm afraid that I don't know the exact pitch, but anything that is soprano and full range will go beyond the secondo passaggio for that fach. It will, in that case, ascend to at least an a5. I hope that helps! Best, Jeff
@dianeshepherdlyricsoprano13944 жыл бұрын
@@JeffRolka Thank you so much for replying Jeff, and yes you were very helpful. You probably remember I am "very into" coloratura and when I do a warm up in that style I can reach F#, that being the top note in that warm up. From time to time I take a range test and at the moment my range is C3 to C6 although as I say the coloratura takes me to the higher note (strange I suppose). Of course, from what .say and from studying, I know that being able to manage warm ups doesn't necessarily determine classification. What you have said in your reply is very interesting so I am pretty happy right now. Thank you again.

Dear Jeff, I wonder if you can help. I'm a classical singer and I have M.E. (I'm traditionally mezzo, but I find your soprano warm ups work far better for me.) I was wondering what you can advise to use as a warm up for the days that I am bed bound by my condition to keep my voice limber. Thank you.
@JeffRolka5 жыл бұрын
I hope that your condition improves! First and foremost, only what your doctor says is alright. I would defer to their judgement and probably just keep it really gentle. Perhaps some of my gentle warm ups. Easy mid-range scales that will just keep things loose. Best, Jeff
@emerveille_6 жыл бұрын
What is the range?

I used to be able to sing a lot higher than I can now. Is there anyway I can get back to singing those high notes?
@JeffRolka6 жыл бұрын
Depends on what is happening with your voice. Without hearing you it's hard to say...usually, though, it's a matter of making a smooth transition over the secondo passaggio. Best, Jeff

This was a great warm up video but I think the second to last warm up needed more than one example of how to sing it.
@JeffRolka6 жыл бұрын
I can dig it. I try to keep things moving and only do a limited about of demos in the 'warm up' videos. They are meant to be used repeatedly, however, and perhaps the next time around it will be more familiar. Best! Jeff
@KaseyDarlene6 жыл бұрын
I really struggled with that one too although I do love the video! I ended up just doing it with a lip trill because I really wasn’t getting it.
