I love when this happens on You Tube: stumbling upon diamonds in the dust. Thanks for this passionate and talented cover of “a small song”. And cheers from Brooklyn, USA.

I’ve always loved this song. I have five acoustic guitars & only one electric-a sweet little Gretch-so acoustic love songs by Ian are a treat & only he could write something so simple yet wonderful & sweet. I too grew up obsessed w Tull. Still am. #2 band after The Who. Ian & Pete are masters & the class of songwriters. Love your version. 😊

Thanks once again for the thoughts/intro and yet another great cover rendition. Happily, I loved this song (and it's cozy sentiment), right from the get-go, along with the rest of the album start to finish! Cheers and happy Halloween from The Hudson valley! 🍂🎃

Nice rendition again Stewart. Not a song that I passed over when listening to the album, but one that was soft background music. Someone earlier asked why are you making us like jethro tull songs we never paid attention to? There are a couple reasons, first it's you giving an explanation before hand that gives us a context in which to listen. Second, it's your playing, soft, precise, stripped down, and your singing voice, perfect for what you are playing. And finally, it's you. I think we gravitate towards those that compel us to watch them. An artist only asks us to pay attention for as long as they can compel us to hold our attention. After 121 tull songs, hundreds of views, bunches of comments and nothing but good wishes, you have our attention for as long as you compel us to watch you. Wonderfully played and executed. Nuanced playing, with many chord shapes that many may miss. Again, thanks for holding our attention and playing so beautifully.

How, Stewart? How are you making me like Jethro Tull songs I seriously was not into previously?! This has always been an instant skip in the playlist. Wonderful cover. You're clearly putting something extra into your performances to make these covers land perfectly. Brilliant as always and looking forward to the next sporran!

Yes it is uno de los mejores álbumes, todo el material desde 1968 yo 1979 es sublime, en mi opinión War child es la obra cumbre, Stewart un gran abrazo amigo, ♥️☀️♥️

The album is brilliant and a great musical odyssey. The addition of the song is to close the album and to prepare us for sleep I guess. A sweet lullaby.... cttgaegoaktd 😛😛😛😛😛😛😛

Wonderful. This is my wife's favorite Tull song ( a very short list to be sure). She loves it specifically because of the warm cocoa sentiments expressed so succinctly in the song. Well done. Thanks from both of us.

A sweet rendition of what always seems to me to be a rather pensive song. Self revelation, as you said, is uncommon, at least at this stage of IA creative life. I think of Shona and the huge house awaiting him while on tour. Sad really that he spent so many years, to our absolute delight, as a minstrel. Also, it's yearning for what has yet to happen, moving away from the big city.

Hello Stewart -- Another great cover, of course. Thanks as always. It's funny -- Ring Out, Solstice Bells always felt like the odd duck for me. I always thought it was out of order, especially the closing part with the bells chiming. Seemed like that would've been a natural way to end the entire album, and thus should've been the last song on Side 2 as opposed to Side 1. But you've made me see the light with Fire at Midnight as a natural closer. So I will listen to your cover a few more times -- and drink a hot chocolate in the process. Stay well.

Another very nice one, Stewart. Thank you. Again, your attention to the details and subtleties of the tune is outstanding. Of the 3 Folk Trilogy albums, I always ranked them: 1) Heavy Horses, 2) Stormwatch and 3) Songs from the Wood. After 40 + years of listening to them, Songs from the Wood has grown on me more the past decade. Heavy Horses is still my 3rd favorite Tull album after Thick as a Brick and Aqualung, but I have grown to appreciate Songs from the Wood more so.

You're spot on as always Stewart with your analysis. I would always skip over this one after the listening to all the hard hitting symphonic pieces on the album. Cup of Wonder, Hunting Girl and soon Fire at Midnight? Nah! I'll pass. But as usual Anderson has a purpose and it's a perfect ending to my favorite album of any band ever produced. I was too young to understand it then and never really gave it much thought until your explanation although I did warm up to the song itself over the years. You hit every note once again. Thanks!

@@DailySporran Sir Wood, I have been well informed by Kaizad Mistry on the Tull FB group and hence that greeting. I think it is plausible, given sufficient time, to imagine that this channel will eventually have your rendition of every recorded Jethro Tull (and a few Ian Anderson) songs …
