I'm seriously beginning to wonder if suppressing your ego is the special sauce to climbing hard. Ryuichi Murai and Shawn Rabatou are shining examples of this. You can tell from their attitude before, during, and after the climb that sending or not sending won't make or break their world. Just an observation.
@DominikNal Жыл бұрын
I get this feeling about Aiden Roberts and Will Bosi as well, they seem super happy to be out there climbing.

I don't think it's a secret it's moreso just more commonly found in the climbing world than other places. I think 95% of pro climbers are all genuinely kind and humble people. One of the things i love about the people ive met climbing
@Dave1507 Жыл бұрын
I'd imagine if not sending would break your world, you'd simply stop trying. "Failure" is an essential part of progress, so you just have to accept that. If you don't, you're just holding yourself back.

This was such a good episode, thank you! The v16 was so crazy! Awesome job folks! A general observation: hearing climbers talk about the shoes they're helping to improve all sound exactly the same & every brand has a "softer" shoe for "modern indoor climbing."
@zacharylaschober Жыл бұрын
Well the Regulus is a generally "stiff" shoe having thicker rubber which is meant to seize on smaller edges and a full length outsole plus a hard midsole. Unparallel seem to have only recently truly entered into the more flexible and less structured shoe market with the Souped Up and Flagship.

I love the humbleness. Jiu Jitsu has been a weekly humbling experience for me for so many years now. With finding climbing recently it has been hard to find partners that are humble and just ok with pushing hard when needed but accepting where I am as a climber. I started outside and there was no competitive nature to it. My friend left and it left me going to the gym finding partners to climb with. Chasing grades is something that doesn’t interest me but training hard has been my whole life. Finally found a great group of people to climb with on the regular and we push one another but safety and staying healthy is priority. Such a great short Doc to watch and remind myself once again why i fell in love with this and many other disciplines in life. Thank you

This cat really climbs just twice per week?! That is exactly what I need to hear! Sometimes seems like everyone into climbing has no work/family commitments and just climbs/trains every day. I am lucky if I have the spare time and money to climb once per week. Had been previously looking on the bright side by saying that as a middle age newbie my infrequent climbing might at least help protect me from over-use injuries… now I can also tell myself that there’s a ton of potential for improvement even if your time on the wall is very limited.

I got my hands on some Souped Ups back around Xmas before they released. I find them to be pretty great outdoor shoes as I mainly climb outside. They are the spiritual successor of the 5.10 Team Blacks and the climbing shoe market has had a massive void in that "extremely soft aggressive shoe" market ever since they stopped making the Team Blacks. If its a climb where I don't strictly need stiff shoes, I'm wearing the Souped Ups outside.

@@ComputerManDanMiller Oh duh. I had the same thought of if this was a world first V16 repeat and then I remember ROTSW lol. Also Nate Williams has been projecting ROTSW for 2 years now and he repeats Sleepwalker most times he goes out as far as I know. I'd imagine a few others have also repeated it working on ROTSW.
