In Norway, Ødegaard was almost treated like our own Messi when he first started playing. The move to Madrid didn't exactly calm the hype down, but after a few years of nothing happening a lot of people started doubting that he was gonna be what we all thought. But now at Arsenal it seems like he is finally turning into the player we thought he was 5 years ago.

@@LjuboCupic1912 it was more tame. Because Ødegaard was so only 15 when he played his first match. And then he went straight to Real Madrid from Norway. While Haaland played for 3 clubs before he went to BVB. But now the hype is insane for Haaland in Norway.

The move to Madrid was what stunted his career in the early years. His dad was a bit selfish for choosing Madrid just because he could get the youth coach job. To go from Strømsgodset straight to Madrid was never really gonna work. Look at Haaland and Bellingham who planned their career steps gradually before moving to a top club. Glad he now finally get his career back on track with Arsenal, it could've been a lot worse.

I'm a Real Madrid fan as well, but I really don't blame him for not "having the patience" to waste another 2 years of his career on our bench. Look at what he's achieved at other clubs when he's been out on loan. He had a slow start at Herenveen, but his performance level at mid-table club, Vitesse was so impressive that his individual stats were up there with the best players at Ajax. His performance output actually regressed a bit after he was, again, loaned out to Real Sociedad. But that's where people started noticing him since it was in a more widely accessible league. And now he's the captain for Arsenal. We decided to pull him back from Sociedad for only half a season, and he spent that time mostly being benched before we suggested yet another loan move for him, but to a different club. I wish he had stayed at Real Madrid, but he's had the patience of a saint for us. I've been a fan of Real Madrid since 1999, and I don't recall any other player on our books being shipped out on loan as many times as he did. I don't know what our plans for him were, but I don't think it benefits anyone to have to constantly change their environment.

Fun fact: That interview that you thought was at a "school festival" was actually during 17th of may. Our national day, where we celebrate that our country got its "grunnlov" back in 1814. I can tell this because first of the clothes everybody is wearing (that is not a suit) are "bunad". A traditional clothing. And secondly, they are marching in a big line down the town. Which is a tradition every 17th of may. In the line there are either a bunch of different pass time clubs or schools. Which all have their own banner. The more you know.

I'm so happy Odegaard found his place in Arsenal. He and his team made a horrible mistake choosing Real back in the day. I am convinced he would have emerged among the top players earlier if he had gone to a club like Ajax or Dortmund then. He was great all along. But in Real B and Herenveen he was really wasted. It was like using a F1 car in dirt rallies. As soon as he got the chance in decent clubs with better players around him he started shining again. So 3 years "lost" there. He would probably started becoming a regular at 18 or so in Ajax and ready for the move to a top club like Arsenal at 20-21.

In Madrid nobody called him a flop, only Barcelona media wanted to throw dirt on Madrid letting Odegaard go. As Madridistas we hope Martin would be patient and fight for a starting spot in our midfield, his talent is evident. However, the club realized he needed a lot of play time to grow, had to loan him constantly, since Modric and Kroos somehow are still in great shape. 😅 Madrid signed Tchouameni and Camavinga, the young Frenchman was a better signing for Madrid, same technical ability than Odegaard, but stronger A LOT stronger and faster player.

Stupid for any youngsters to sign for Real Madrid, unless they're Spanish or Brazilian if not they probably don't have chance to play. If he sign for Wenger or Psv or Dortmund, he probably the best midfielder by now.

@@daisuke5971 my bad, should be French, Spain and Brazilian youngster. You can ask valverde to call me, I'll said it straight to his face, with 11points behind Barcelona in La liga next season Madrid will buy new players and he will go back to bench.

Maybe it seemed dumb to play for Madrid's B team while training with the A team, but as the kid said himself, it's about developing to become at your best when you're mid twenties, not a teenager. And how do you not gain extreme insight and development training with Real? I am willing to bet all that training with some of the best players in the world in Real Madrid has done him a world of good, even if it didn't materialise right there and then. He became captain in Arsenal at a young age ready to guide and lead players with much more experience, it's hard to see that's something that could happen if his progression was more like that of Håland or other young talents. Training with top players early must have been a real impact. It didn't work out for Real Madrid, but it did work out for Ødegaard. The kid might have been a lot smarter than we give him credit for.

When you have player like kross modric and case you are likely to ruin some career. But thats part and parcel of big club we lost hakimi, kovakic becoz of that legendary team. And its okay he was just at wrong time at wrong place we literally almost lost fede but it was his commitment that made him future captian. Just after his departure kross was injured and thats how fede became imp. One loss is other gains. Becoz of him we got cama so no hard feeling we tried but in end he was short on time and we were short on time. But is okay. It is what it is 👍🏻 happg for him but he is still not on that madrid level tbh he is good but still cant bench cama fede kross modric tbh so its okay

Sometimes big clubs and eminent managers are responsible for ruining the careers of talented individuals. It is good to see that Odegaard did get the opportunity to outshine his critiques.

Real Madrid did not nearly ruin his career, he almost did it to himself. He made a bad choice to go to Real at that age. He should've chosen a club where he could get in to the first team faster, like Dortmund, Leipzig, PSV, AJAX etc. He was never going to break in to that star studded Madrid line up so young.

Real Madrid didn't ruin Odegaard's career. Ode just doesn't have the mentality to compete and break into Kross, Casemiro and Modric midfield. The player who can compete against the best 3 midfield partnership in the world. Will thrive at Real Madrid. One player who had that mentality was Fede Valverde. Look at Fede Valverde now. Fede didn't have to wait for any the big 3 midfield at Madrid to leave or retire. He took it upon as a challenge to break into the team while the KCM partnership was still on their prime. That's why Fede Valverde is thriving at Madrid. He's even starting as a converted Right Winger thanks to his tireless work rate in attack and defense.

What are you saying man? Fede and Ødegaard is not the same player. Their playing style is very different. Fede broke into first time because he was an engine and really complimented Kross,Modric creativity with his constant pressing and making runs inside box. After Ozil classic 10 type players never worked well for Real Madrid. Zidane gave priority to Casemiro over both Isco and James because of his defensive attributes. Martin was really ready for Real after Sociedad loan but unfortunately his knee injury hindered his development. Also affected his confidence. Also neither Ancelotti nor Zidand believed in him whereas Arteta wanted him so badly. Ødegaard's plight in Madrid has nothing to do with his mentality. He was wrong place at wrong time
