Bendtner was one of the most naturally talented strikers we've had in Denmark since the turn of the century. He was actually quite good at the national team and the fact that Juventus, Werder Bremen and Arsenal had him on their books is a testament to that. Had he not been so reckless and big mouthed, his career would have been far greater. It is too easy just to look at the scandals and not remember the genuine hype there was around him, justifiably so.

As a Rosenborg fan I enjoyed having him at our club even though it was really weird for us having a player that is essentially bigger than the club at least in reputation. To me (and to those I've heard from around the club) all said he was a nice guy that was simply shaped by having had so much attention his whole career but that he fit in well. He also did really well in his first season and created some spectacular moments that I'll remember for a long time. Our plan when we signed him was to get him performing at a level where he would be called up to the national team, play in the WC and sell him for lots of money. That plan was soooo close to being realized, but we and him got unlucky with the injury.
@TheImunais
@TheImunais Жыл бұрын
Yeah, i think the injury before the WC destroyed him a bit. The first season at RBK he was amazing, I still remember his preformance against Ajax, and the goal vs Molde.. insane. But after the injury he just didnt seem interessted anymore, I think he gave up on football after that.

@@admontblanc Thing is, not everyone wants to "leave a mark", he might have just wanted to enjoy the baller life as much as he could and be reckless in his young days. I always think the same of Ronaldinho, although he did leave a greater mark, he had his fair share of scandals and was reckless, but dude won the world cup, champions league, la liga, ballon d'or etc... All in his early to mid 20's! What would've been the point for Dinho to keep pushing after that like Messi or C. Ronaldo did? Fun video! In Denmark our speeding tickets are not a percentage of our income, it's a value predetermined by your speed. Bendtner was stopped in Norway, where the ticket is a percentage of your yearly wage. Everything else is pretty much on point. I love that you end the video with "I'd say it's a waste, but I'm not sure anymore". That's pretty much how we feel about him in Denmark, too. Fun fact: I was once held a gun point by Bendtner's personal jeweler. Years later I talked to him, at he told me about this one time when Bendtner was "injured" and could not play with the Denmark national team, yet he was in Vegas partying all week with said jeweler.

There's probably a bunch of more wild stories out there about the Lord. But I remember one clearly that isn't mentioned in this video. He was once at a pizza joint in downtown Copenhagen, drunk as a mf. And he couldn't pay for the food. Idk if his card got declined or whatever. But anyways. He then demanded to get the pizzas for free. And when they told him that he had to pay or he wouldn't get anything then he arrogantly replied with "You don't know who I am? I can buy your whole shop". While the guy behind the counter was like "Yeah yeah good on you, get out of here". But Lord kept arguing and asked people in the pizza shop to pay for him. Then eventually there were two young girls that ended up paying for his food just so he could shut up and leave the place. I think there's a video of the incident as well lol

Fake news. The 842,000 kroner fine was calculated based on Bendtner's salary, which is roughly a million kroner per month. The fine is figured by divided an offender's annual salary by 25 and then multiplying by the blood alcohol level, which in Bendnter's case was 0.175 percent.

Overall, good video. I'm dropping a like. There were more crazy antics than what I've heard of. That said, the statement that speeding or crossing a red line (7:34) gives a fine that's a percentage of income in Denmark is wrong (don't remember the punishment for driving the wrong way). Driving under the influence, on the other hand, will land you a fine of your blood alcohol level (per thousand) times your monthly salary.

Here this story: We played Pro Evolution Soccer in season/career mode the year this guy was 20 or something like that. We bought him in the game and started playing him. After 2-3 seasons of growth in the game he became absolutely insane. We were struggling at the time to win seasons in hard mode and we had never won a champions league in the game. He had a season of over 100 goals that made us win everything. We could simply score from any position, in any game, at any time. He proceeded to have another 4-5 seasons of absolute dominance. To this date, funny enough, me and my friends joke he was indeed the GOAT

It doesnt work like that for men, you usually end up solving your own issues or they stay unresolved. Specially if your a big/tall guy. People tend to not believe anything was wrong , confidence and physical appereance can go a long way even tho inside is not ok.

As a Dane, i feel you are a bit hard on his ability honestly. Was he a good striker by Premier League Standards? No, but he was decent when he put his mind to it, and did do pretty well for Denmark at times... Also the way you explain the violations(and rumours), you make them sound a bit more insane than they actually were, but yeah i get the meme, so your way of framing the video is understandable i guess. Anyway i will put some respect on the Lords Name whenever i get the chance!

@@alphomega2459 i said he was not a good Premier League Striker, that dont mean he couldnt have been a fine striker for a team like maybe Stoke back then. But it is not a hill i will die on to be honest, I just feel like he wasnt as terrible as people put him out to be.

He was'nt the GOAT, but his pure natural talent was through the roof. From what i've gathered his dad was'nt the best influence on him to say the least. When i think of Bendtner i don't see a grown man that makes bad lifechoices, I see a big kid who was'nt raised right, Bendtner needed good consistent rolemodels in his life. If he had adapted a driven/professionel mindset he could have been one of the greatest goalscorers of his generation, he had that much god given talent!
