She wasn't this much of a recluse before the funny wizard bullying, was she? And people are trying to understate how much damage "those" people did. Screw them.
@faenethlorhalien Жыл бұрын
@@danieldutoit2187 She was. Always has been. One of the reasons she'd stream to an EN audience is because she was MASSIVELY bullied in Japanese schools because she is of mixed heritage (Texas / Japan). Japanese kids (who learned those behaviors at home, let's be honest here) are extremely racist towards anyone who is not 100% Japanese. They've been taught the "if you stand out, you need to be beaten down into compliance", and they apply that leitmotiv to how they treat non-Japanese too because kids' brains aren't developed yet and they don't understand nuance. The thing is, if you're a 100% foreigner living in Japan, you'll start getting bullied at around age 11-12, but it eventually ends, because the bullies get caught and eventually move to some other target. If you're half Japanese, there's no forgiving. They don't consider half Japanese as "a foreigner in Japan" whom to bully for a while and let go live their life, but a stain in the face of the Japanese race. They consider that half Japanese are bastards, in the original sense of the word. Mongrels. It's fucking terrible they believe (again, kids, they can't process nuance) that shit. In any case, until a decade and a bit ago, anyway, if you were a foreign parent of a Japanese kid living in Japan, you weren't included in the registry (koseki). That was only for Japanese. So in legal terms, that kid had only one parent. Let that sink in. Now it's changed and the system is now reasonable. So yeah, Henya / P , she talked about being bullied REAL hard at school, and when she was bullied by all the trans-allies (more them than the trans themselves, as the trans community had something to lose from stirring shit up, but trans-allies can be more catholic than the Pope at times, if you catch my drift), she felt betrayed, alone and like she didn't want to keep going. It was the catalyst for her to speed up her resignation from her previous agency. Which would have happened, but probably on her own terms, later and with a less sad goodbye stream. And with a lot less bad blood remaining towards the trans-ally community from many viewers. I despise JK Rowling, but there's no excuse for bullying a woman from a culture that doesn't have crap to do with what happens in the UK neither she needs to know.

It must be really difficult to play a beloved character, and for everyone to love you for playing that character, and to worry whether people love you for you or for your character. I don't doubt a lot of her bubbly attitude is real, but Henya is a character at the end of the day. She's lived a rough life, and while it's "funny" to joke about her not being allowed near sharp objects, that's not a joke. She's a grown woman and her parents won't allow her to own knives or other sharp objects, and keep very close tabs on her. Sometimes the kindest, funniest, most bubbly people are that way because they don't have a choice, and I think sometimes it's easier to play a character than be yourself.

I know how Henya felt far too well. No matter how much you say you will go out, or how much you genuinely want to, there's that small part of your brain that just floods the rest of it with fear. Not even fully describable as fear, it's hard to put it in to words. It's like a gigantic wall you can never see yourself climbing over. Dread. But there's one thing that makes it not feel hopeless. A friend that helps you climb over it. Someone that pushes you forward step by step because they genuinely care. That extrovert friend us introverts can't live without. This moment is so sweet and beautiful that it touches the heart, is evident Henya's discomfort and suffering in going out, discovering the world and meeting or making friends in real life, because you never know how people, from such a closed culture, react to your actions, as per example, shyness or you being a Hāfu (half foreign)... and the marks that can be left on your life, due to exclusion... Zen and the other Vshojo girls are becoming the “safe haven” for Henya to have options and choices. When a question arises or when something reminds of past problems, the girls are ready to help Henya in every way possible. It's like ZEN said to Henya: “small steps firts”, without forcing anything, just relax and take the time you need to decide if the time to take that step has arrived... regardless of the decision, the Vshojo girls will always support and assist in Henya's decisions. PS: This was the best "belated birthday present" that Henya could have received... this declaration of support, affection and love from the Vshojo girls towards her.
