Instead of a body shop take your tail lights to that place that does the wraps for the DDE fleet or some place similar. They would be the experts in removing old tint if there is a safe way to do so. Or whoever you get to detail/do the paint correction should also be able to restore your tail lights in the process.

You can fix the tail lights yourself, 800 grit wet/dry sand paper by hand to get the spray tint off. (if you use a DA it could melt the plastic) Blow it off and clean it with water and dry it with a clean shop towel, then with a paint prep spray (like dupli--color) and dry it . Get a tack rag and go over the tail lights before you clear. You can by 2k clear in a spray can (2 part). Put a few coats on so a few days later you can wet sand with 1500 and then 2000 grit and buff afterwards to remove the orange peal and make them crystal clear.

the wrap on the headlights is a uv protectant to stop the lenses from becoming cloudy. awesome stuff but only lasts 4-5 years. should put more on or seal lenses now they are bare as they have to be bare to apply wrap
