Admiral McRaven has actually lived Zeno's example of dusting yourself off and getting up again after taking a great loss. As a young Lieutenant he was fired from Seal Team Six for trying to run his squad in a disciplined manner and daring to defy the reckless pirate culture that was fomented by Commander Richard Marcinko. That would have ended the careers of most junior officers. But he got back up and continued on where most people would have quit. We've all seen the results.

Lesson I learned from the podcast - 1 Nothing is going to go on forever. 2 Do your best . 3 Reflect on your action everyday . 4 It is imperative that you have someone who tells you the absolute truth . Please add more if you want . 5 Historic moments are not made with dramatic music , there is no music playing in the background during such times . 6 Be aware of your emotions , making decisions while being emotional are the worst decisions.

Great Podcast gentlemen. Admiral McRaven, I gave my son your book "Make Your Bed". I am trying to get him to read it, LOL, he is 12. Keep up the good work Ryan. Ryan, I think it would be a fantastic idea if you did a Shakespeare themed video translating some of his best quotes to us. That would be cool. -Grant in San Diego.

Great meditation to start the day- I love how the simple daily meditation of making one's bed every morning allows us to realize that our routines become our habits, our habits become our practices, our practices become our mandala- and all of these are working the mental muscles of honesty, courage, justice, wisdom, and temperance. What once was a coming together of peers of brothers and sisters that you would do the hard work of the daily battles in the trenches, becomes our Karass and Duprass, bmuch in the way Kurt Vonnegut describes what is needed for good to triumph over evil, "There is no good reason good can't triumph over evil, if only angels will get organized along the lines of the mafia".

Saddam wasn’t a bad person he’s Muslim, but he loved the Christians.
@mcgritty88425 ай бұрын
A person can be bad regardless or their religion. Saddam should’ve never been put into power and be allowed to commit so many crimes against basic human rights. Also, in mind that over 6 million human lives were sacrificed in the name of Jesus Christ during the Crusades alone. If you look at history, you’ll see that religion (monotheistic religions) have been the cause of many, if not most wars in the past 1,500 years.
