If Apple can solve their handwriting overheat issue with Freeform and Notes I would use them all day. As it is, both apps overheat a lot in extended handwriting sessions, which doesn't happen with other writing/drawing apps.

I have been using screens to organize my large boards so as you said "easy to find". I did not think about using it like a presentation tool. Thanks.

I love this app, but cant use it cause my ipad gets too hot and too laggy when I create too much content on my board. Anyone having the same problem?

Until it gets layers, I can’t use it. Until then, I prefer something like Concepts for infinite canvas creations.

I’ve noticed that the toolbar on my freeform app is completely different from any of these tutorials. I see on KZbin like there’s a bunch of tools missing from it. For example, the crayon app isn’t there is a quirk in the system or is it because you might not be using an actual, Apple Pencil

Looks like this is not widely available yet, only in prerelease. I’ll try it. The thing that annoys me the most about Freeform is that I can’t assign a URL to an image or graphic, it can only be that preview, which is mostly a miss.

The finished course will likely be around an hour and a half or so. I try to keep them from being overwhelming. Access is permanent!

I really want to love Freeform… and I was trying to lean into it… but then I tried Figma / Figjam on iPad, and I was shocked by how much I liked the experience & felt compelled by what I had access to in there. I didn’t even know that you could run Figma Plugins in the iPad app - it just opens up so many possibilities & reduces friction in the workflow for me. Freeform is still on my watchlist & there might be a few small use cases I might have for it currently…. But I’m largely just continuing to wait on future updates & seeing how it will stack up to its competition in the future.

Agreed. I’ve wanted to use it on my MacStudio (with my mouse), but navigating around the canvas is SO clunky! It’s better on my iPad (using gestures to zoom and pan, etc.), but still. Haven’t tried the new update though, hopefully the experience improves.

I don’t think it will ever be a place for structure. Its very purpose seems to be to create a spot where all manner of everything can be dumped without worrying about structure (organization, tags, file hierarchy, whatever). I find it useful for the earliest stages of a matter, like planning a trip. But before long, you do need to organize the data somehow (plane tickets here, hotel options there, data relating to the conference you’ll be attending in another spot, pleasure sites elsewhere), am d then I move out of there and go elsewhere, like Notes, Notability or just different documents in Finder folders.

I could see using this to take notes for class. I currently use Notability because of its’ capability to record audio and sync it to text entry. Assuming there’s no such capability in Freeform yet?

I don’t know man. The writing experience on free form is just a bit clunky. I use good notes on my iPad and the writing experience there is really good. I want to use free form but I would rather just use goodnotes for everything.
